Yeh, he spent a few quid on earpeices and microphones etc as well .... but on the pitch, there's quite a bit of 16 stone strikers and full backs who can kick it 70 yards, the reputation is deserved.

Swansman is correct that Fat Sam copied Wenger and many others with a huge interest in player psychology, healthy diet (he didn’t bother himself ), yoga, rest and metrics.

But tactically his teams are normally all about territory, percentages, aerial balls in the mixer, power, height, a player blocking the goalie, corners, long throw ins. Preserving a lead with time wasting.

The antithesis of the football sought by Potter and many others.

Sure. He didnt have access to data for the whole football world, pretty much only for his own team. He used it to maximise Bolton according to their limits. PL managers these days have access to thousands of games and try to maximise their performances through that way... which is while Allardyce is succesfull, he wont ever have the success he had with his then progressive take on football. It wasnt beautiful but it was scientific. And he carries with him that experience, even though he will never have a Kevin Davies again - they dont exist anymore - he will find the next best thing.

Day One of Big Sam showing he’s a better manager than Potter. Not sure 5 pts is much of a safety margin, never mind Fulham’s form

As far as I remember we also drew 1-1 with Liverpool and we should have beaten them imo. West Brom are not that bad a team, Fulham also drew 1 -1 with Liverpool, Pundits just have a lazy pre-written narrative and are keen to confirm their bias.

I said Big Sam would be a cracking appointment for Brom, and I still feel the same.

They will absolutely pick up points now. We have to up our game.
