Atwell will be “rested” for a week or so. Not sure who’s got the worse job, Howard Webb or potter.

Our refereeing and VAR are a joke, even when they get to the correct decision.
Why ? It’s 100% right. Emerson ran half the pitch to push him in the back FFS !

And booked Havertz in error maybe? Absolutely shambolic.
Havertz got booked for deliberately clipping Richarlason's heel.

But in the 29th minute Richarlason deliberately clipped James heel and got away with just a verbal warning from the ref.

The standard of refereeing is atrocious.

He booked Havertz, not Ziyech. Which was correct based on the tackles, the ziyech one wasn’t a yellow but Havertz kicked out with no intention of getting the ball
Yes having seen it back I think you’re right. But weirdly doesn’t blow til Ziyech fouls him. Prob correct decision overall just about but a shambles to get there!

Only Big Six teams have their players sent off by VAR but then the ref decides to double check the decision on the screen and rescind it. Insane.
This IMHO is EXACTLY the sort of situation VAR was brought in to have a look at.

All things considered I think its quite fair in the end. If Richarlison gets a yellow for the situation where he should have had a yellow (when he brought someone down to stop a counter), Richarlison can't go up and provoke Ziyech and if that doesn't happen, none of the other stuff happens either. Ziyech is trying to shove the opponent, which happens all the time, but misses (he is a Chelsea player after all) and hits the bloke in the face (quite lightly). All in all, yellow seems enough. Question is though if that wasn't a second yellow..?

Anyway, if you can put money on Ziyech getting subbed in half-time.. do it.

Fun that it is a bit rowdy. Makes it more entertaining than the CP vs Liverpool game yesterday.

Looked like he spoke to the AR and from his angle looked like a straight slap/punch to the face and gave red on that.
From the other angle it's clear it was a push to the top of the shoulder that slid into the neck and lower jaw area.
I was happy for the red card but think VAR did it's job there for once.

Correct decisions in the end tho.

Emerson is a prick, Ziyech shouldn’t have done it but not enough force to be a red. Havertz kicked out.
Was Ziyech not on a yellow card for a tackle earlier?

One of the worst thing about it all was that the ref is just walking around the pitch while we wait for him. 4+ minutes of him walking around. It's meant to be entertainment. Hurry up.

Also, Alan Smith needs to stop commentating. It's intolerable.
I mean it did provide more entertainment than the rest of the half...

So, Havertz and Royal were booked, however the ref saw the "slap" but wasn't entirely sure who did it. So VAR told the ref who it was, then the ref gave the red. Then when he gave the red, VAR thought it wasn't a red which is why everything happened.
