Win or lose today, I do have a theory about Manchester City, which I’m sure has been covered elsewhere, but it’s a bit out there.

What if the coach, but more so the players are aware of agreements ongoing about pleading guilty to the incoming sanctions and have given up mentally?
Exactly what I've been thinking for a while. What's the point of winning stuff if you know it's going to be taken away from you?

This city slump is incredible.

This will be their ninth defeat in their last twelve games. Even one of the games they didn't lose they threw away a three goal lead in the last 15 or 20 minutes.

Has a team ever experienced a slump like it that had been so all conquering and dominant for the five plus years prior?

They won 10 drew 3 of their first thirteen games this season then a loss in the carabao to Spurs precipitated this ridiculous run.

Remarkable.

Me too. Just seems such a sudden and spectacular loss of interest/confidence from both players and coach. It surely can't be completely coincidental that it happens when they have that potential points deduction hanging over them.

You just never know do ya? Could be something going on regarding this but, surely Pep wouldn't have signed a new contract if said something was going on. He vehemently said he'd be off if they had lied to him (regarding their innocence)!

Definitely something that has occurred to me.

I think they are now in something of a downward spiral too. For so long they have been supremely confident (and not without reason) and they've benefited from other team's fear of them (again, not without reason).

Both of those have been shattered now and it will be very hard to rebuild. Players who would follow Pep into the gates of hell are probably starting to question his decisions. Teams that would go to City and look to park the bus for 90 minutes and hope against hope to maybe escape with a point are now thinking there just might be more on offer.

Similar to what’s happened to United at Old Trafford in the last 10 years. Under Sir Alex might aswell have just forgotten about it. Now, no one fears them at all, in fact I think teams relish going there now
