[Albion] Premier League 13-15/4/24

Three seasons ago 13th was the best ever finish in our history. Don't let two exceptional seasons make us think that finishing 13th is bad.... If that can be our floor we should be delighted
We don’t know it’s our floor, do a league table of our last 10 games and that could be our none too pretty floor

Correct 10th would be a step backwards. But an acceptable one as that was the club’s stated target. These are measurable things rather than fortune cookie rhetoric

You're just focusing on short term ceiling, but perhaps we should consider the floor? Every individual season is at the whim and mercy of injuries, form and luck, but there is a long term trend which is more important. Differences in finishing positions are just noise around a mean. I think we've got way more strength in depth than 12 months ago, more ability to cope with problems, less risk of relegation or a serious set back, were financially stronger and less reliant on certain individual players than before.

So i believe we have a higher floor than a year ago, which is the most important thing in my opinion. How high we finish is then dependent on all the other variables that impact a season..

If you look at certain sections of social media, RDZ IS getting pelters. Agreed though that Potter would be getting quite a lot more in the same situation.
You're right, and I'd add that the wider media is very down on Brighton atm. There seems little recognition of the extent of the injury crisis or the uncharted territory that this season represents.
But, back to the point I originally responded to, we've been bereft of attacking ideas for a while now and, frustratingly, once we've got through the press, we slow down and have stopped taking advantage of such situations. The last two months illustrate how important March and Mitoma were in opening up the deep block.

He certainly doesn't go missing for Arsenal
Yes he does, he disappeared most of the winter.

He disappeared for so long my Arsenal supporting colleague actually said:-

'you were right about Trossard'.

All he had to do was wait a couple of weeks and he wouldn't have had to bring such shame upon himself.

If that's the way you choose to look at it we're taking a step backwards regardless, whether we're 8th, 9th, 10th or whatever.

Personally i don't think this season is a step backwards at all. When you climb a mountain some bits are easy, some bits are hard, but as long as you keep pushing on you keep getting closer to the top. I believe we've taken a step forward this season even if our league position is worse.
We were at the top and they sold the midfield and didn’t replace it. If we can’t keep a squad together we aren’t going to be successful.

Fair enough, I clearly don't pay enough attention to Arsenal's games unless they play us 😎.

None of those things are true, apart from financially stronger (because we sold our best players, hurrah). I don’t mind pollyannish dreaming but spreading myths about a frankly disappointing season since Christmas is a bit rich

I think it's a LOT beyond them, despite the frankly surprising result, today. Besides, I'm sure we'll manage to bag a few more points along the way....somehow.
They have have actually been playing well and we have not. It is not inconceivable they could finish above us.
