It's fun to think we got one over Arsenal with the White deal, but will other suitors be so willing to pay so much for one of our players in the future if Ben doesn't make a success of it? I think we need Ben to succeed (even if we don't want Arsenal to - one of those looking good in a poor team situations maybe).

AFTV is fun. Been watching for the last 15-20 mins. Some new guy is saying "Wenger" a lot and I know that's how it's spelt, but I'm so used to hearing people pronounce it "Venger" (or properly, if you will).

It was interesting to watch him play for another side and look so out of place and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of our other players as individuals looked equally lost playing for other teams.

Under Potter we are a brilliantly coached side with every player knowing his job, we play better than the sum of our parts. I think we’re seeing what a good coach Potter is.

White needs to stay well clear of any media for a while now for his own good!

I really hope for his sake he hasn’t been badly advised career wise and is a success there in the long run. Unfortunately for him though he is without doubt playing with worse defensive midfielders, defenders and a keeper than he was last season and it is already reflecting on him.

callum chabers played for england whilst at saints(big fee), and then look what happened ???

Bizarre how Arsenal are playing Ben where his weaknesses (in the air & against physical players) are exposed

for £50M?

Nah, he's not worth 50m.

They allegedly gave us 30 up front, with the other 20 staggered over years.

We could always take him back and offer to write off the owed 20 million, maybe negotiate up to another 5 million extra for a fair market price of 25 million!

Which bodes the question- where would we finish with Smith Rowe, Saka, Auba and Pepe in our team?

Really happy for Brentford fans.

But gutted for white, played in the wrong system by a manager aspiring to a style he doesn’t have the players to execute.

If Bielsa made him, and we cashed in on him, what will Arteta do to him?

Perhaps even the Leeds fans will give us some more respect!

Like all promoted teams it depends on how many injuries they get and how they cope if they lose Toney or Pinnoch for a few weeks. I think the three that went down last year weren't very good so it might be Watford and Norwich will be the whipping boys this year.

White playing as the holding CB, a role Dunk does for us really is not his game. He has been hung out to dry in that team.

One of them is clinging to the ball being out of play in the build up. Glancing at the half time replay, it didn't look like the whole of the ball had crossed the whole of the line to me. But, I have the TV muted, so no idea if that's the concensus or if I didn't see it properly.

I think the funniest thing about watching Arsenal play like schoolboys and probably finish mid table is that their clueless entitled "fans" hounded out a manager who ONLY kept winning FA Cups and finishing in the top 4. Can't wait for AFTV.

Thomas Frank is class. Been really impressed with him the last couple of years, he was brilliant after they lost the play offs previous season after also choking automatic promotion.

He’s a great addition to the PL.

Good post.
At Brighton we played him to his strengths as he was one of our best players in a good defence, at Arsenal he is just another player who must fit in and play where and how he is told, Arteta and the fans will destroy him if it carries on.
They must have seen how he played for us but that is typical of a big club, they always know better, or think they do, it was only little Brighton with an unheard of coach.

White's ball-playing throughout the match was actually pretty good, but he was second best vs Toney all night and had no answer to his aerial threat and his physicality.

Chelsea have just been given a blueprint for how to expose Arsenal. If Arteta goes with a back 4 against Lukaku it could be carnage.

Well that’s three points we need to find already compared to them…
