The ref should be spotting that, but VAR missing it - first weekend of the season is unforgivable.
I bet the problem is this whole not interfering to much. But surely asking the ref if he saw it, if he says not really, VAR ask him to check.
Bet worse case VAR should be highlight a clear and obvious mistake

No surprise that Hooper and Salisbury are at the heart of yet another travesty.
You can always forgive the on-field official, but it is quite clear that Salisbury is not up to the required standard for VAR, he should at the very least be removed from VAR duties permanently.

I've never really had an issue with on field ref making mistakes, it's high speed and mistakes are bound to happen, even more so with off side.
But there is absolutely no excuses for VAR to get anything wrong, that's how it was unrealistically sold and the trade off for 5 minute delays.
