Pre Theatre meal in London

4 of us going to Playhouse Theatre London on Thursday and want to have a meal before hand. Do not want basic spaghetti or pizza any suggestions of places that are reasonable both in quality and price dont expect a £5 eat as much as you like type price but dont want to pay £50 a head.

If you're around Leicester Square, Chiquitos is very nice. MaHOOsive menu and quite reasonable (for London).

Just off covent garden is this little restaurant. Always had a decent meal there:

I like the Skylon restaurant in the Royal Festival Hall. A nice little meander across the river and boom.

Cote in Covent Garden ain't bad, french-ish really. Last time I was there, excellent pre-theatre menu too (value wise, certainly.)

Palm Court Brasserie, in King's Street, Covent Garden is a bloody nice and reasonably priced French restaurant. They have a special pre-theatre menu.

There is a reasonable Tapas restaurant just off Charing Cross road opposite Leceister Square.

BG, try the Bear and Staff on Charing Cross Road, good, reasonably priced food, slightly a cut above normal pub food, but good value, and they have some decent real ales, such as Fullers. Just down from Leicester Square Underground Station, towards the National Gallery on the same side of the road. In fact I'm going there tonight, before going to see Fran Healy at Dingwalls in Camden Town.

I really like the Balans chain. There's one on Old Compton Street. They're all as gay as you like, but the food and service is great and it's a really relaxed friendly atmosphere. About 5 mins walk from The Playhouse.

It's not the closest restaurant to the theatre that you're going to, but I can recommend this place if you also want to be able to talk about the restaurant that you went to as well as the show that you saw. I've been there twice and it is a very unique place. The food isn't too bad either.

Cheap(ish), cheerful but very nice is Planet Hollywood on Haymarket.
