Pre season performances so far

Its the same every year, one of the most predictable topics apart from Season Tickets blah blah blah, and Why havent we signed enough players etc

They are still training the days of games, so should be knackered going into games.

Pre Season doesnt normally matter apart from learning to play with each other. Results dont really matter, at least we didnt get thrashed

It's all about fitness at this stage and getting match practice. I'm a pessimistic bastard at the best of times but I do think this season will be a good one. Let Crawley have their little victory. If it helps get them noticed a bit more by their town (attendance tonight still suggests big problems in getting a decent crowd) then it's a good thing and good for Sussex sport. They'll never be bigger or better than Brighton, so no worries.

and the opposition are a different stage? We have been shit at pre-season for a few years now I agree...worryingly we have also been shit DURING the season. Not a good omen imo

I can't agree with that. Every game matters, every result matters. You Pull on an Albion shirt then you give 100 percent young man.

We have also been meesing around with formations/players/trying new things etc plus we also need to remember that RS is not stupid. He knows we need 2/3 more players....

He is also trying out triallists too so all things considered I would rather he dabbles now and gets things right than think because we won all pre season games we are fine and then royally screwing it up in the season......

If after these games he turns round and says nothing more than it is allabout fitness etc then fine...BUT if you were a player would you be going flat out against non league opposition in a friendly? Most of these boys are playing well within themselves.

I calming down a bit now, but I hate defeat especially against non league teams. Coppell could be back in league management before christmas!!

The signs don't look particularly encouraging so far. Murray and Dickinson seem to have done bugger all.

Disagree with a few, we are normally very good in pre season. This year is the exception.

Can't read to much into it but I think we'd still prefer strikers to be scoring and midfield creating regardless of the result

It is all about fitness, but as stated above I'd like to see our strikers hitting the net or at least beginning to link up together. Not too concerned yet though its a new team and we're all still learning.

So what have we learned from the games against non league opposition so far? How seriously should we be taking the results? COULD AND MUST DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't give a fart in a thunderstorm quite frankly.

Over the past 40 years I've been to and read about pre-seasons where we seem like world beaters. Come the first league match we lose 1-0 to Crewe (or whoever); play utter shite and you wonder wtf is going on.

Altenatively over the last 40 years I've also watched and/or read about pre seasons where we've lost to Bogtrotters FC/Wurzels United and looked complete pants and then gone ten games unbeaten in the league.

I think it means f***-all. Chill. If we have 0 points after 5-6 games then is the time to start saying "could and must do better". And I'd be right behnd you!

They've already trained on the day of the friendlies. They are playing virtually two different teams per game. It means f*** all, I'm surprised that anyone ever bothers going to these games let alone gets pissed off when we lose one.

This thread is all that's wrong about NSC, pointless moaning. Friendly results mean nothing, obviously we'd rather see Crawley 0-4 Brighton on the score sheet, but does it really matter? No, it doesn't. Stop whingeing.

Get a grip ffs.
A pre-season in which a club wins every game is not a good one, at least this way we can evaluate our shortfalls before the season starts rather than being down the river with no paddle so to speak when the season starts.

I Expect the first Slade Out thread within a matter of weeks... :US::US:

On the one hand... Results don't matter, but you don't lose against a team a couple of divisions below you by playing as well as you can, so our performances need something more.

On the other hand, and I have no data to back this up so could be completely wrong, but it always seems like the better we do pre-season, the worse we do during the season. I may be basing this only on a couple of pre-seasons in my formative years as a fan though...

We've won every pre seaon game and then been relegated, and lost all and then been promted so frankly the results mean f*** all. It's all about fitness and shape. So far we haven't played the first eleven for ninety minutes. Once they do, and only when it is against Walsall will it matter.

Different teams are different levels of work out as well. Some games are treated more seriously than others by players and managers alike. I suspect Crawley would have been a lot more up for this one than we were.

So just stop moaning and wait until the season starts.
