Our last game against Portsmouth,we were in the Globe at Chi waiting for the next train to Fratton...............The Brighton 'Firm' met there......................i think you would have come to the conclusion these boys, although no trouble in the Globe, were not to be messed with.

doesnt seem much that went on in Carlisle, handbags prob. good to have a bit of needle in a match though as long as innocents don't get caught up....which is unlikely

Carlisle always had a good firm though

Remember a few years back at Withdean on the last game of the season, they got ran back into the away stand !

They have been out in force on numerous occasions since then, Palace away brings them out, but i also remember being rounded up into a police esort with about 100 or so brighton nutcases at Bristol city away in playoff final season, aswell as west ham last season, coventry a few seasons ago and even chesterfield last season to an extent.

Reading the englandfans message board Port Vale had a bit of a ding dong with ManUtd last night!

BTW Paul Dodds is a TW&T. He got me a slap from Polish riot Police after throwing a bottle at one of them and running off! The Fatty Taxman got stuck in the door and I got stuck on the floor getting slapped about with a nice rubber truncheon! They let me go but a Villa lad got put in a police van and retuned seveal minutes later badly battered and bruised!

And if it was your round you would have been in the bar getting the beers in but hay ho it was my turn. The bastards still got me latter that evening.

Not saying there not about but these were BEARS and i never saw them at Palace, saw the little bears at Millwall, at the station. Methinks the real deal are pro-active but move in different circles to us law-abiding citizens;)

Well considering the people that were rucking were twice the size of any of us...we made the decision..that we were only going to get a pasting...so why offer yourself up..dont get me wrong..If any of my mates had been involved or it was self defence then job done....But getting involved for the sake of it...no chance.

Police keep rival fans apart

Jul 26 2007

POLICE acted swiftly to defuse a potential clash between rival fans during a soccer friendly between Bedworth United and neighbours Nuneaton Borough.

A group of up to 20 Nuneaton fans based themselves in the Bear and Ragged Staff pub, in King Street, during Tuesday night's match, which Boro won 4-2.

At half-time, a group of up to 20 Bedworth fans left the Bedworth Oval ground in nearby Coventry Road and made their way to the pub.

A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said: "A police tactical support unit, including police dogs, which was on duty in case of trouble at the match, quickly separated the two groups and kept them apart to prevent further trouble."

She added: "It appears there was potential for trouble, but police action quickly separated the two groups and the situation was stopped before it could get started."

There were no arrests and no reports of injuries

Violence threat hits Millwall match
by Marcus Mabberley.

ALDERSHOT Town’s pre-season friendly match against Millwall tomorrow (Saturday) has been cancelled after police received intelligence that rival fans were planning a fight.

Club chairman John McGinty told the Aldershot News that Hampshire Police forced him to cancel the game because of the “unacceptable” costs he was quoted by the authority to police the fixture.

Advertisementyour story continues below
A heavy police presence at the Recreation Ground in High Street may have been ordered because of Millwall’s notorious hooligan element and the fracas between Shots and Oxford United fans after a league game in February.

Then, children as young as 13 threw missiles at police officers.

Mr McGinty branded the cancellation a “shock and nuisance” for all involved with the club.

He added: “The cost of the extra police that were thought to be required was too much for the club to meet, so we had no choice but to cancel the game as we weren’t prepared to pay the unacceptable fee.

“I think it was the sensible decision for the police to take as we can’t run the risk of anybody getting injured because of a football game. The police have been very informative with us and they’ve taken the right decision.”

He was unwilling to disclose how much money the club would have had to pay out and added:

“It’s obviously regrettable and a huge blow for the fans and the team as everybody’s looking forward to the new season and playing against a league club.

“The manager (Gary Waddock) is trying to keep the team fit and games like this would have been a good run-out.

“We’re finding things difficult enough with the club financially already and regrettably we thought that the quote was unacceptable.”
He said there was no place for hooligans at the club and vowed to clamp down on anybody in the terraces who caused disorder.

“It is a very undesirable situation and if anything does happen then people will be banned until they can grow up,” he said.

“I thought that hooliganism was a thing of the past, but apparently not.”

Aldershot Town Football Club’s intelligence and liaison officer Pc Ian Parish said: “The safety of those attending the game and those in Aldershot town centre is of the utmost importance.

“Hampshire Constabulary has received intelligence to suggest that a small group of supporters were planning on causing disorder at the game.

“The minority of people have spoilt the day for those who were looking forward to attending and enjoying the match.

“Hampshire Constabulary will continue to work with organisations to ensure there is a safe and pleasant environ-ment at events throughout the area.”

Mr Waddock said the cancellation was “out of the club’s hands”, and added: “It’s a police matter and a bit of a shame, but that’s the way it’s gone for us.

“We’re getting on with our preparations for the new season.”

Fan of seven years Gabriel Thomas was disappointed with the cancellation. “It’s a big shame as the majority of the fans want to see our team play against better-quality opposition,” the 23-year-old Aldershot resident said.

“I’m glad that the idiots who attempted to disrupt our game have been stopped but it’s to the cost of the real fans.”

Organised supporter violence has become a common element of league football in England.
Fans arrange fights on the internet or by mobile phone prior to kick-off.

People arrested for causing disorder at games can be given football banning orders which can prevent them from attending any regulated football matches, from Conference to Premier League games, for up to ten years.

If necessary the courts can stop recipients from using public transport on match days and from visiting other potential hotspots such as town centres, pubs and bars during risk periods.

Five men were given banning orders — ranging from three to six years — following disorder in the town centre after the Shots lost 5-0 to Carlisle United at the Rec on September 25 2004.
