I neither like nor see the point in poetry so no chance.

Alas poor BG we knew him not,
He reckons poetry is a load of rot
Only a Left Back does he give a jot
He searches out talent from useless sites
He gets quite annoyed when no one bites
But just for today, we all are happy
Lose to the Brizzle and he'll wet his nappy.

That is quite funny so well done at least it rhymes, as I was taught it should, but you havent changed my view.

Nor am I. I'm hugely disappointed to learn she's going to be doing GOSBTS again. We've finally nailed it these days, and the sound of 29,000 people belting out the chorus sends shivers down my spine every time. I appreciate her talents as a singer, but that's OUR song, OUR moment: we all know that she's going to rattle it out at warp factor ten in a quavering, high pitched soprano voice that won't allow anyone else to join in. It's completely wrong.

By all means let her do Abide With Me if you must, and all the rest of it, but I wish, I really wish, that they'd leave GOSBTS alone (or, as you say, get a proper brass band in to do the job). She's going to- however unwittingly- ruin it.

Also, I associate her, rightly or wrongly, with failure, having memories of her turning up for at least two home play off games that we've managed to screw up royally.

Surely 29000 singing GOSBTS with gusto will drown her out, if that is what you want.

There was an old Grandad of Ben,
Who asks "can he play left back" about all men.
With computers he tries.
But it brings tears to my eyes.
He should try turning it off and back on again.

Rarely have I ever agreed with something more than this, in every respect.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the Omsung Phine—
In the pale moonshine our hearts entwine,
Where she carved her name and I carved mine;
Oh, June, like the mountains I'm blue—
Like the Phine I am lonesome for you,
In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the Omsung Phine.

Frik, just got the bus to the Loaded Dog, Leicester and they're telling me that they're showing the Palace game instead of Brighton. Shouldnt have bought a pint, but was thirsty.
Quick slurp then back to town.
