There's two Clarions in Prague. The one in the old town looks a more convenient location for taking a wander (not that the other one is in a bad location) around the more interesting parts.

Prague itself is brilliant. Or, as Superphil put it in his own sweet inimitable way - "I can't find anything about this city that pisses me off..."

A few weeks ago I booked the Clarion City hotel for myself and the girlfriend for a trip next spring. The girlfriend did also like the look of the Red & Blue hotel towards Petrin, but there's no way I could have gone to a hotel called that! At least she didn't spot the Crystal Palace Hotel nearby I suppose.

If you do happen to go for that Clarion hotel (the newer one of the pair) and are going before April, please bounce this thread or PM me and let me know how it is.

I have to admit Ive been within spitting distance of the Crystal Palace hotel, and didnt waste the opportunity.
The Clarion in the Old Town Square will be more expensive, and everything around it will be expensive..
The city Clarion I couldnt tell you about really, but would imagine is slightly cheaper.

Paul Samrah told me when he visited that he was booked into the Albion Hotel...

Its in praha 1, so its central Danny...I couldnt tell anybody about hotels, as Ive not actually stayed in any here, but ive not really heard any bad reports about any of them.....

And just across the bridge from Club Midnight!! :-0

general tips to all...further away from center, the prices drop dramatically...eating in Zizkov for example, you will pay a third of the prices you pay in the center, and as Prague born and bred folks tell me...the the chefs are all trained in the same place...

Virtually no crime, but look out for pickpockets in crowded tourist areas.
If a girl comes up to you rubbing you and asking if you want sex, her other hand is relieving you of your wallet (seen it happen more than once).

Music:
R&B/HipHop - Radost by IP pavlova
Dubstep - Yes which is near museum..think its on street called Zitna.
D&B - Cross Club (get metro, just a few stops, to Holosovice)...its about 100 yards from metro...
Indpendant - Akropolis club in Zizkov near the tv tower
89-90s pop and local women by the shedload - Lucerna music bar on vodickova which crosses Wenceslas..

Best club....apart from my music bar of course, where you need to love Russians...I think a club called Le Clan which is behind the museum at top of wenceslas...on the left side ... doesnt really start until 5 am, and goes onto midday..mostly soulful house....not easy to locate though...like I say..behind museum on the left...cross railway bridge and its 2nd turning on the left...and its on the left hand side of residential street...looks normal...place is amazing..mostly underground.

and youre just over the main bridge by our hotel , not charles bridge? prob do fri night i think as thats the night we arrive . i think sat we'll be pretty ruined with beer and sightseeing to be much fun at a club. do you have any recommendations for any intersting bars to go to . i rememebr when i cam in '94 there was a very weird underground bar , very gothic , stone walls etc just off the main square . 20 p for a bottle beer i recall . i doubt it would be like that now htough. any nice places on the river? boat trips worth doing? we'll obiously do the usual charles square , wenclaslas sq etc

Grossetti boat restaurant (static) opposite the castle on Jan palach square if you travel down from the old town square towards the river you will find it... is cheap, good views etc.......underground bars are 10 a penny mate...sounds like our place haha... maybe U Sadu was the one you saw at the end of Vodickova (street that crosses wenceslas)...in the center you will pay may 50kc for beer....outside the center...as little as two or three tramstops, you will pay less... bit more in the music clubs...ours is 35kc...interesting bars?..depends on what your looking for....for music, behind Tyn church on the old town square there is Chapeau Rouge...always packed..3 floors..,..a few people selling grass there........ if you 'smoke' then in Zizkov near the tv tower, couple of good places, Shotgun and Chocobamba.
Ive heard good reports of Techle Mechle on Vinohradska....
Near the old town square on Dlouha you have Bombay something or other, and in the area Tretters Harleys, Zero, M1 for R&B...... these are places Czech girls go to find foreigners...
Our place for Ukrainian/Russian girls looking for foreigners haha.
Not Charles bridge...next one to the left if youre looking at the castle...best way is to get tram 9 in direction of Andel from Wenceslas... think its 6 tram stops...takes about 10 mins...get off at Svandovo Divadlo and walk in direction tram is heading to first turning on the right...Zubateho, and its Midnight Club..street is opp a Tesco Express.

Never done a boat trip...no idea where they go... tbh, ive not travelled beyond the Prague metro system in 5yrs....could be a fence around the city for all I know.
Give me an idea of what youre looking for and I maybe able to direct better.
