Thought it might be this bunch; German and sound like Oasis, but all their songs are in English. They've actually got some quality tunes of their own though - check out Heartbeater and Shadow Dancer: https://soundcloud.com/atomic-official

Mando Diao are a Swedish band who've been around since the late 90's, sound quite a lot like Oasis and are big in Germany, but I don't really know much of their stuff.

Also, The Sheer from Holland have obvious Oasis influences, are popular in Germany and fit your timeframe... but frankly I really don't like Oasis so haven't got a clue.

You sure it's not by this bunch of old-timers?

OK, they sound a lot more like Blink 182 or Good Charlotte on this track, but they don't always...

The only two German music I have ever heard is Herbert Grönemeyer - Bochum and the Spider Murphy gang

Abort, retry, fail
A friend of mine lives in Dresden as a translator and has his own rock band. A walking jukebox is coming round to his for drinks tomorrow, so you may well have your answer..! (Hopefully)

Until then...

MattBackHome - Was/were the singer/singers male or female and would you be willing to share a video (for the German Jukebox) of you humming the tune? You can send it to him direct or via me. He is keen to work it out! :lolol:

Sages of NSC,

In about 2002 a mate of mine found an unmarked tape in a car he’d bought. This tape contained the music of a German rock band. Neither of us spoke German but we would sing along phonetically, and I’ve had this song in my head on and off since then. If it happened now I would Shazam it.

This is probably impossible, but I would like the help of NSC community in finding this song.

Clues:
They sounded a bit like a German Oasis.
The chorus went C G Am F (i.e. very identifiable and obvious chords) in 4/4.
The end of each line in the chorus either was ‘bitte’ or a rhyme thereof.

Danke schoen in advance.
