Correct, and correct . . . but it was Gus who laid the foundations for it.
Are you forgetting the rest of your comment?

“We must never forget that Gus Poyet was the man who led us out of the wilderness and into the promised land of the Premier League, with all the riches that that brings”

Yeah. I still like Gus. The Gus era was the start of everything we have today.
Sorry got to disagree on that, Jeff Wood getting the sack after a ‘home‘ capitulation against Cambridge at Gillingham, prompted Dick Knight to seek out Micky Adams at Nottingham Forest reserves in April 1999.

The classic sliding door moment, as the Adams Mk One reign was the ultimate catalyst at our football club.

Archer, Bellotti and Stanley ??
Jesus!!! Not in the same ball park. Can't compare the two in any sense.

But yeah still not healthy to hold on to. I won't ever forget, but I don't hold on to this so much any more either. On occasion I can also pontificate on some what ifs. Would we be where we are today without those three?

He called us a selling club on tv (talking about Mac Allister), which I guess is true - but if Souness suggests it ??

Poyet deserves his applause and I'm glad this has happened today. But make no mistake, he said there was a glass ceiling at this club - there wasn't - which is why Hughton will always be on a different level to Gus. Hughton not only took us to the Promised Land but also set the template for calm, methodical stability at this club that we still have today.

The glass ceiling comment was because he wanted Van Dyke, and was told by PB he cost too much. That was part of the fallout.

Wtf was that as all about today? Do people not remember his acrimonious departure? His actions after losing THAT match?

What was the applause all about?
He is a legend in my book, so what if he left in a shitshow, without him, we wouldn't be where we are now. Love the bloke, love people who speak their mind too, just like Poyet. Gave me some lifelong amazing memories at Withdean.
