D'Urso was even crap in that Southampton game. The Lambert red card was one of the most blatant sendings off you'll ever see and D'Urso still managed to send off Greer and turn down a stone wall penalty when Sparrow was hauled down.

Against Sunderland he booked Calderon for diving when he would have given us a penalty and sent off their keeper.

He's the one referee that fills me with dread when I see he's been appointed to our games.

My point was that if D'Urso's poor decisions today were as a result of some kind of vendetta with Poyet from Leeds days, which your post implies, then the Southampton game seems to disprove your theory.

Can't say he is best ref 've seen but we did'nt win today because we have'nt got that goalscorer... I love CMS as a workaholic...nobody can fault that....but why does he keep slipping over at a vital goalscoring moment?

Errr. What has D'Urso's performance got to do with that Leeds Twat. He made two mistakes in my opinion, the rest he got about right. The one that sticks out was El-Abd clattering into the back of someone on the half way line, and then Hammond making a tackle a second later, and D'Urso pulling up the El-Abd foul. Everyone went mental thinking it was for a Hammond foul, but he made it clear it was El-Abd he was pulling up. Sorry, but we are trying to blame the ref for todays result, then fine, dream on.

2 mistakes? i guess u spent a lot of the game in the bar then...cos there were a heck of a lot more than that ...the assistants should take some of the blame too....as regards to losing..no it wasnt his fault but he was a dick of that there is no doubt

I haven't seen anyone say we lost because of the ref. He is a shite ref and shouldn't be refereeing professional football, that said had we taken our chances when we had them we could/should have won.

His decisions probably even out over time BUT I am told by people near the tunnel that Poyet, Tarrico and Oatway are always on the officials backs, F'ing and Jeffing at them.

My life experience is that when you treat people with respect and decency, you get far more out of them!

Poyet was a skilful player but I remain to be convinced about his leadership and interpersonal skills. His treatment of certain players would tend to support that view.

excellent post. I think D'urso had an average game and made a couple of poor errors in our favour too. I just think he is a poor ref, not a biased one.

It was mentioned on the match thread by someone but I haven't seen it elsewhere, did Steele handle outside the area? So many people around me in the North stand also shouted handball, that I thought it wasn't just me.

He came out to catch a high ball, then his momentum carried him outside the area, when he quickly dropped the ball again. It did look to me like he'd still had hold of it as he went over the line, but D'Urso wasn't interested (nothing surprising about this).

Was that the one on the west side not far from the dug outs? I saw that as the same as you. I didn't realise that was the "hammond foul" that everyone has been citing.

There was another one that seemed to confuse people around me. Ashley Barnes tried to play a 1-2, and when he tried to get space he was obstructed. The fans around me yelled at (I think) Dobbie or Bridge for a loose pass (it was played to where Barnes would have been if not cut off), then seemed completely bemused that we were given a free kick (not far from the hammon incident).

He certainly handled it out of his area, but quickly realised his mistake and dropped it - yet D'Arso didnt give it. Gave Boro some light free kicks too, yet when a couple of our players were hauled down, we got nothing. We didnt lose because of him though, we lost because we didnt take our chances well enough.

I agree that our shots on target, despite double that of Boro's weren't good enough, but had the keeper been sent off, it would have reduced Boro to 10 men, and then we may have had the confidence to turn the game around. That, coupled with the penalty shouts, are the stuff of victories at times.
