What is 'good enough'? This sort of thing happens in cup games which is why the cup is still magic. I prefer us to be the underdogs but today the underdogs did better than us. Fair play to them. We don't have a god given right to beat non league teams. That makes us sound arrogant.

I never said, or thought, we had a 'God given right' to beat them, but it is OK to think, given all the evidence beforehand, that we're likely to win, and to express disappointment that some of that magic you rightly speak of has rubbed off on our opponent. Saying 'not up to it, get rid', as has been done on other threads here, is utterly churlish, but this is not North Korea, some measured criticism and expression of disappointment should be allowed.

Anyhoo, last word from me on this. With any luck there'll be a decent draw tomorrow and the incentive will be there for the players to do the necessary in the replay, because that incentive seems to have been slightly lacking in the cups this season.

If Poyet is ever going to succeed at this level - let alone anything higher - he needs to develop a much thicker skin.

Any more Latino Hissy Fits because 6 blokes and a dog in the south stand boo a little bit, suggests he might not have the right temprament to succeed at the very highest levels.

Spot on the booing was wrong but as you said he appears to buckle easily under such little pressure.

I am now more disappointed at his performance than the team.

People have a right to boo, Battipiedi and Hart come on to try and change the game in our favour? Somehow i don't f***ing think that's going to work ? Sandaza done well but wouldn't you bring Smith on instead of Batti or Hart ?
Possibly if he was on the bench

I didn't boo (& never do) but I can understand why some people did. That's the fifth time in a cup game this year that half the selected players really didn't seem to give a f***. People get off their arses & pay good money to watch cup matches, & I think it's a bit rich that our manager should have a pop at the fans after that display, quite frankly. Maybe he should vent his frustrations at those players who let him & us down today? Top of the league?? Your avin' a laff. :glare:

I love Poyet and i am sure so does 95% of our fanbase but it is a shame he has to resort to veiled threats to his own fans when i am sure whoever he was managing, the fans would have given a similar response. Could you imagine fans of Man U, Chelsea, Leeds ect more forgiving...i dont think so. Sorry Gus, i know you are disapointed but i think your anger should have been directed at the team not the fans who are like any set of fans....you pay your money and ( i do not agree with booing) some will show their anger this way. You and i may not agree with it but i think comments like Gus's will allienate him from certain fans and we dont need any paying customers to stay at home!

I cant believe what I am reading here.

yes a few boooed....it was a crap performance against a poor side....we had chance after chance to score and fluffed them all. We all have opinions and I for one am fed up with some of the self rightous people on here who assume if you critise the team you are the devil incarnate...i am fully expecting some wamnker to say " well go and Support palace".

get over yourselves................people were very frustrated today and IMHO that was compounded by garry hart coming on. If ever we wanted evidence that Gus doesn't give a monkeys about the ciup, that is it......fair enough...BUT if he puts out a weakend team he cant expect us all to cheer madly when we are shocking.

Yes we are at the top and playing good stuff...BUT that is our first team...not the team that we put out today.

Oh, and how nice of Attilla to say something along the lines of 'Well that's the magic of the cup for you...Heads up Albion' at the end.

Don't think I've heard so many people shout 'f*** off' in unison before.

Exactly - the difference being that if the club doesn't see the cup as important then neither do I and won't be spending money on it.

( Unless we draw a big team in the third round in which case I will be in the front of the queue for a ticket )

So the people predicting a strong win in a game that should have been (according to you and the manager) know nothing about football ?

Come on, you're a more intelligent bloke than that. People who don't understand football would have said we'd win 5/6/7/8-0 today because we're top of league 1 and they're in the EvoStik League. People who do understand football know that it's not always as easy or as obvious as that, and that you have to earn the right to win a game by such a margin. On the day, however, we could have won by a cricket score because we would have earnt that right through scoring the goals. I see what you're saying in a sense, and if we had won 8-0 then there's no problem, we've done what was expected. But football isn't as simple as that, you have to earn everything you get and you can't just expect to win 8-0 because of who you're playing against.

Let me put it this way, who thought we would have deserved a 6-0plus win at Peterborough before the game kicked off? Not very many, but on the day it could have happened. Who thought FC United would beat Rochdale 3-2? Not many, but on the day it can happen.

Why all the drama from everyone....?

Pointless game, where the greatest prize is a 1 in 64 chance of playing Arsenal RESERVES in the next round.

FA Cup used to be special, but has as much relevance as the JP Trophy (or whatever it's called these days), until the semi-final.

The FA Cup plan this year has so far backfired. I'm a bit annoyed by that personally. The last thing we need at the moment is extra games.

The logical extension of that approach is to go out and deliberately lose the replay isn't it ?

I struggle to see how playing badly against non league opposition (albeit with a weakened team) is the good preparation for the next league game.

PLEASE play a full strength side in the next game and put the game to bed in the first half.

Get a reality check all you boo'ers
If you don't like it, stay away - for good. If you can't see the wood from the trees you are thick. What would be your reaction if one of our top players was injured in the FAC for the rest of the season in a competition realistically we cannot win.
Gus has a game plan which is simply starting at the Amex in the Championship.
For God's sake, get a grip on reality.
What today ( and other FAC games) has proved, is that some squad players (no names mentioned) might not be up to it, a point which GP would not have gone unnoticed by Gus and he will sort it out in time.

U.T.A.. !!

Who do you think could not 'give a f***'?

Well maybe a more considered way of looking at it (sorry, but I'm bloody angry after that) would be to say that there were players I saw again today that played well below their capabilities. Murray looked completely disinterested; Baz was dreadful; Barnes was ineffective; Tanno's completely past it; Bennett had a poor match; we created loads of chances & never really looked like putting one away; we had little width; our build up's looked predictable; we were out-battled for a lot of the game...

Sorry, but I really don't think that's an acceptable effort against a team of very plucky part-timers.

I'll be more annoyed if any players get injured in a replay against non league opposition. The wood from the trees (as far as I can see at the moment) is that we have two extra games (plus stoppage time) in the cup and we really should be concentrating on the league.

Let's not make it even harder than it already is...

Exactly.

Don't start threatening the fans Gus.

I love Poyet, I just get the impression he is a little temperamental and prone to a few knee-jerk fall-outs. Hopefully he won't fall out of love with us, but his record so far does not give his teams imunity from criticism when they can't beat a bunch of part-timers.

oh look, NSC's very own self publicist, wannabe tabloid hack is all over this like a rash what. a. f***ing. surprise.

'man up' and do a 'proper' job?
