From the bbc website...

"I am lucky at the moment. It's a good time to be at Brighton, I make a lot of decisions.

"I say there is no chance [of wanting to leave], but it is difficult to say when the place [Leeds] is so spectacular for me.

"It would be great. I would love, in the future, to manage Leeds. I would love to come back, but at the moment the timing is not quite right. For those who want me back, I am sorry."

I saw that quote, it is all over the place.

It is a disgrace. He may have well asked for the job outright. He even implied the terms he needed to take it - to be allowed to make all of the decisions.

In which case lets all hope and pray that Ken Bates still has a VERY long life ahead of him as Leeds Chairman.

Don't actually think so. He just wants the job one day, as he has already said about the Zaragoza job, the Chelsea job, and most recently the England job.

He's still got 2-3 more years work here before I imagine he'll feel he needs a further challenge. If he can establish us as a midtable Premier League club, challenging for a Europa League place, with a fully operational tier 1 academy, then there's not much more for him here, and he leaves as a legend.

Just saying what the locals want to hear, that's all. Means nothing.

Ken would let him all the time he is doing well and making Ken Bates money. I think he would be ruthless if he were not achieving. But that is the same with most Chairmen isn't it?

Ken is a slightly different breed its called a ****.

Anyone remember when he said he'd like to be here for the long term, like Ferguson and Wenger

Yes, but he is already thinking about moving on at some point. To him, Brighton is just a job, and we are a team that will never give him the chance to be where he aspires to be - at the VERY top. Unfortunately, he will move on as soon as his CV is strong enough to get him the next step to where he wants to be. Leeds could represent that step?

Yep its like saying no to a sensitive girl who's feeling you don't want to hurt.

Great analogy.

"Ah, I'm flattered, really I am. If I wasn't going out with someone else, and the timing was different, I'd LOVE to go out with you..."

Translates, to : "you're a six Pinter sweetheart. I'll stick your number in my phone, in case I ever find myself single and desperate..."

Indeed. We are a stepping stone for Gus in his managerial quest. To be fair he doesn't hide the fact that he will move on. All the time Tony supports him and we are progressing then he will be content to bide his time.

When the day comes, there will be no shortage of quality managers battering the Amex boardroom doors to get on the shortlist. No more journeymen for this club.

Gus is more than welcome to go to leeds if he wants, leeds are the most over hyped massive club ever.

If he loved them that much he would leave, but you would have to be super dumb at the moment to leave us,leeds get 22k and they're supposed to be massive?

I agree although im not sure if i want a manager here who wants to be elsewhere,he makes so many annoying comments.

Remember gus we will not be belittled by your future plans, keep them thoughts to yourself as this club is far far bigger.
