Well played Lineker, he wasn't expecting that

I disagree. I would imagine it was all agreed and scripted beforehand.
The BBC and Lineker would have got critised for not asking about the ongoing situation when booking Gus.
Therefore Gus's agent and PR people would of told the Beeb what to ask and Gus knew what and how to answer.

Not sure the BBC would have been 'criticised' as such. A big chunk of the TV watching football supporting nation is barely aware of Brighton and Hove Albion Football club's existence.

the club are looking very silly.....by 2pm i demand some movement, and really hope poyet is kicked and then publically made to look like a fool.

some of you on here shock me - he totally gave away the palace game at the amex....unforgivable.

I just don't know what to say to that. Amazing.

Possibly....so how about..
Beeb: Would you be our pundit for the Uraguay matches?
Gus/Agent: Yes, for £10,000 plus I want to comment on my ongoing Brighton situation.
Beeb: No problem.
Gus/Agent: We will send you our script.

I know there are plenty of haters on here, but I still love the man. Love what he's done for the club, love the football we've played under him, love the style of player he's brought to the club.

It is like splitting up with a girlfriend, and last night was a bit like the moment you see them for the first time afterwards, and you start to think, "maybe I've got carried away here, what wrong has actually been done to me here?" My heart still flutters, no unfaithful behaviour, just a bit of flirting. If you date a cracking girl, it draws interest, and maybe one day they get tempted by a better offer, but is the ride worth it in the meantime. Hell yeah!

I love you Gus, I want us to make a go of this yet.

I do not criticise everything about him !!!

Only yesterday I stated we should take nothing away from his acheivements.

I do however have a MAJOR issue with his treatment of Vicente - which SOME Gus lovers glibly dismiss - and the breakdown, according to the argus, of his relationship to Tony.

I also really dislike the anti-barber agenda on here.

But don't stop misrepresenting my views, eh?

I'm not saying it didn't happen but the only evidence i've seen of Vicente mistreatment was the interview with Vicente in the argus and thats not exactly unbiased is it?

This! Just look at Chelsea and Mourinho, they didn;t get on with him so got rid and now they've realised that the last 4 years (or however long its been) was a mistake and they've rebuilt those bridges. At the end of the day surely football is a results business and Gus is still getting the results

These are my thoughts Gritt23.

And seeing him last night reminded what we may lose. As El Pres posted - with Gus you took the whole package.

My only reservation is the events of that Monday night. Hopefully we will get some insight into what (if anything) happened.

But who knows if Chelsea taking back Mourinho will be the right decision? When a relationship becomes unfaithful there will always be a lack of trust. Some things can never be undone and forgotten.

Well indeed, it may be too late to try to patch things up at Chelsea, but pretty much to a man, Chelsea fans wish they had never got rid of him the first time, and that is the stage we are at now.

Plus the article in the Argus saying he might come back if Poyet goes. Planted by the club, I imagine - they know Vicente is worshipped by the vast majority of the fans.

By putting on Ashley Barnes, who had a goalbound shot deflected onto the bar and a header cleared off the line? There must be more certain ways of giving away a game.

Really ? Worshipped ? I am not so sure. He is a talented player, and could be the best player seen in the stripes. But most people I speak to, and many on here recognise his heart has never been in it when he has been with us. And personally, I suspect he had not got much heart for the game at the moment.

Planted by the club. Huge assumption, totally unfounded.

But don't you understand. Because people hated him so much, Barnes missed those deliberately. That'll teach you all, he thought as he placed his flick close to speroni on purpose.

Its about as likely as some of the other anti poyet stuff on here.

Total speculation that anything was planted.

I've not seen anything from any of the other players, either ones that have left or those that have stayed, to back up what Vicente was quoted as saying.

Agreed. Given this, I think we can discount Vicente's anti-Poyet rant.

It wasn't Poyet who released Vicente as he refused to handle the retained list. I do wonder about the anti Poyet stance from Vicente when the other Spanish players commented on V's lack of social contact. I saw it myself at the sponsor's dinner when Vicente didn't like the banter watching the match on the screens. He also kept himself to one side of the room whereas the other players were happy to mingle.
Why did the club release Vicente, and not offer him a contract like Lopez? That way, the comments from Vicente would have had far more impact.
