No passion for the club? Comes over from Russia to watch every game we play and you can see his emotion during the match. No history? Studied in the Reading area when he was younger and attended games at Elm Park. Knows where the money is coming from? His very wealthy father and successful businesses. In terms of the McDermott sacking, the man was out of his depth. Made too many fatal mistakes this season, it may seem harsh from the outside but most level-headed Reading fans will tell you it was the right decision.
OK... but surely if you end up back in the Championship (likely, sorry), he's the best man to get you back up again? Especially with a £23m war chest?

Reading the next Wolves next year,,, enjoy league 1 u tinpot club... Glad we don't have greedy Russians owning us, reading will be deserted soon enough :ascarf:

Tinpot club that beat you twice last season, got promoted and is doing much better than you. Very bold accusation. You seem to be forgetting West Ham and Newcastle bounced straight back up. Greedy Russians? Refer to my previous post you clown, the man is very knowledgeable about the game and the McDermott sacking was inevitable.

Good point, but I don't think Brian could do it again. I wouldn't say we were lucky to go up, but we didn't exactly play free flowing football. The game at the Amex kind of summed up our second half of the season, got very lucky at times. I think a new man at the helm would benefit us massively.

Look Readingfan, you've started The Major off now. He'll be comparing attendances all the way back to Elm Park now:eek:

Oh Bollox - i was going to have an early night now I've got to research Reading attendances.

I do remember last year they were top of the table and taking about 400 fans to Doncaster though.:lolol:

Getting rid of McDermott at this stage of the season is ludicrous. No one coming in is going to turn your season round. McDermott had your team battling for points and gave you a fighting chance of staying up. My brother and some of his mates are Reading fans, they don't see it your way.

The new owner has hit the panic button early. He could have waited until the end of the season and lost nothing.

Is that the same guy who wrote the 'Poyet set to take Reading job' article?

He's made himself look a right numpty. Clearly his source, if one existed, was at the Reading end as very little rang true about the original article other than that Poyet's people were speaking to them. As you'd expect. The business about £2.5 compensation being agreed is just a desperate attempt to save face... it's really not that big a deal. As we know from the Wolves affair, if a club approaches then they'll be told how much it will cost to buy out Gus's contract. So Reading obviously agreed to that which is why he was allowed to speak to them - but hardly lengthy negotiations. And Brighton were looking at possible replacements? No shit Sherlock. Who wouldn't?
