Reading may have offered the compensation stated in the contract that means we have to give permission for them to talk to Gus. does not mean he will or if he does agree to go. would be strange if he chose to go, the clubs could change places soon

Whole lot of 'Whatever'.

IF he goes...

I would have liked to see him go to a larger club than Reading (I'm fully aware that they are in a far superior financial position to us.) Having said that, he's not irreplaceable. And it's too late to keep them up now.

As has been stated elsewhere on this thread, it's when he comes back knocking for Bridcutt, Orlandi and Dave that I'll start to be perturbed.

Oh and DiCanio can do one. Get me the PHYSIO.

IF he doesn't...

Great - bring on the playoffs.

Bit worried about the "on the pitch" considerations. Remember what happened to Tottenham last year after all of the speculation surrounding Redknapp and the England job. Will this destablilise the team?

Mind you, it would only be the same as our finish last season...

I just looking forward to reading the "Gus rejects Reading" headline.

It will be the first time that his obvious loyalty has been demonstrated publicly.

If it happens.

You're probably right - it's really interesting though that the general consensus on here is 'meh'. I thought when this day came NSC would melt down... not the case apparently.
That my friend is denial - classic people pretending they don't care when we both know they do. Whatever happens now anyway our club has a football identity, just like Swansea, if he goes then he goes, the club is bigger than him and we will have to move on, despite the fact it would probably be catastrophic for our season.

One worrying part of this is no comments from either club, normally you get them 'rubbishing' claims or whatever.

Nothing surprises me.
Thing is, if Reading are relegated, they will have a huge pot of money next year from parachute payments.
I wouldn't be surprised if TB has for months been sounding out prospective candidates. And I would expect an amazing replacement. Maybe Martinez.
Calde to be promoted. To what exactly, I don't know.
As the OP said, in our history, this would just be a blip. Sad, but a blip.
Personally, I think GP would be bonkers to leave at a time when the club is on the crest of a wave. Nay, tsunami.
But, as he says 'Thats football'

Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn had pots of money, fat lot of good its done them this season, everyone thinks that parachute payments are the big savior of clubs... I wonder if it just creates more pressure on the incumbant manager, a few bad results and they get goonered, look at those three clubs for example.

the player bit worries me to. with the exception of Spanish dave the rest are contracted to this club and I would hope any agreement includes a clause for him not to approach our players.
