Poyet: I'll go home

Go on lads, keep moaning about Poyet and his pathetic comments. You're quite right and with luck he'll decide he's had enough and walk out. Just as long as Ellis Short is on the phone immediately making Gus an offer he can't refuse so we can take the best manager in your history off your hands. Gus Poyet isn't just a good manager, he's going to be a great manager; and ten matches without a win doesn't alter that.

This, takes a Sunderland fan to provide a bit of perspective...

You've got that spot on, Yes we're going through a bad patch at the moment but we'll bounce back and be even stronger than before.

Neither here nor there
Gus is learning. He doesn't have much Championship experience and there will be mistakes, dud signings, and tactics that backfire. Let's not kid ourselves that it will be an easy ride, this season or next, but we might as well strap ourselves in and enjoy it. It will take a while before Gus has a team of players capable of playing the way he wants, and getting results from it, but it will happen. Allow him the odd hissy fit, it's part of the deal.

Take some f***ing responsibility poyet its your team ffs

As I've said on another thread ...

Having expected not much more than team building and survival this season. I'm finding Gus far more interesting than he was when we were consistently winning. Listening to Gus as the season unfolds is where the interest lies. The beautiful game is played in the mind, not just on the pitch.

I'm afraid being a manager isn't just smiling and doing all the media when you've won a title and had a good start. Now is the time he really proves himself. Gus has it within him, but he needs to show it.

People are at these matches and can see with their own eyes what is going on. It's not even just the results, with a couple of exceptions it's the performances, and also the inability to create chances (clearly not helped by injuries). And to be honest, if he can't accept a little criticism from fans who essentially think he's great, he wouln't last five minutes at Sunderland.

I can't think of a single top manager who regularly threatens to flounce off if things don't go his way. It isn't what the fans, and perhaps more importantly the players or the chairman, want to hear.

It's his way of getting a reaction. After the FCUM game last year, I'm pretty sure the same comments sparked a huge change in performance levels.

Poyet is the single best thing that has happened to our club for donkeys years. Appreciate what we have and give him time to complete a work in progress. Yes we were very shit last night, but Gus is trying to get a reaction from his players.

Spot on. Last night was a league two performance, and the scoreline flattered us. Gus needs to concentrate his energies on resolving it.

Oh dear, there are some poor wee over-sensitive souls on here, aren't there?

I think you could aim that comment at the manager in the light of some of his recent comments. I don't think anyone on this thread has questioned Gus's ability just his rather childish reaction to fans not being happy and his players not playing very well.

Yeah I agree with those who think Poyet should go.

I mean, I really MISS being on the BRINK of relegating to League TWO and watching Tommy Fraser TEAR it up.

f*** me

We at BHA are very patient. We are not a Leicester who sack their manager because they are not in the top 6. We are BHA who keep faith with our manager (some may say for too long aka Micky Adams).

However, 9 games without a win is unacceptable.
And the performances have got worst. Last night couldn't have been much lower, other than a bigger defeat.

So how long has Gus got to get it right?

Win against Barnsley & the dreadful run will be forgotten.

The mood has visibly turned against Poyet. We were awful last night. If we draw or heaven forbid lose against Barnsley I can see Gus leaving before the end of the month. Defeats against Southampton & Derby likely & just Coventry at home this month could see us easily falling into the bottom 3.

I don't expect much from the away games & the rot has to stop on Sunday.
I don't want Gus to leave us. He has achieved much so far, however, if we lose at home on Sunday, I think he may walk out of the club Monday morning.

Not the real one
I think his comments are spot on, I know he's said it before but that's what being a manager is about, you have to bang on and on about the same thing until the players get it!

What we need is a mix of the passing game and the long-ball game. ALL teams have that, all except Albion that is. I'm not against the passing game, but WE MUST HAVE A PLAN B FOR WHEN IT'S NOT WORKING.

If Gus goes home so be it.

His job as manager is to get the best out of the team. Bleating about them all the time is not going to do the trick.

We all know Poyet is a quality manager and is brilliant when things are going well. However, I have been worried ever since that FC United game about how he will react when inevitibly things get tough................the early signs are not good! A couple more games without a win and lets see what comments he comes out with, god forbid he gets a couple of people booing if we dont be Barnsley.

Agree this as long as Gus sees it that way but recent comments suggests he might not which is worrying ... as for other thread comments about why question Gus, I'd respond simply with why not? He's hardly established a track record ... it may just be that his tactics aren't working or the players aren't good enough ... either way that's his responsibility

Hmm, the performances are becoming a mentality issue.
Players don't want to play once they're selected - Reyes pulled out, Bridcutt asked to be taken off due to dizziness following a knock.
I thought none of our players wanted the win as much as any of the Watford players. Yep, every Watford player was more up for the game than ours. Maybe we were jaded after Saturday, but I just hate watching lethargy.

If we can sort out the mentality of the players and with players coming back from injury we should be strong after the international break. Oh heck, just looked at the fixture for 19/11/11.
