I believe it's 6 weeks before the end of a contract domestically. - It's 6 months if it's between anywhere else and the UK.

Isn't it anywhere else and England? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that a transfer between a welsh team and an English team counts as international.

Sorry, but that part is absolute rubbish. as long as they match his current deal, they are entltled to compensation.

Dp you think we matched Villa's offer to Barry?

Really is so annoying though. Compensation, I always thought, was to reward the efforts of the club in training and bringing through a youngster. Doesn't make sense that you can just buy a player and then recieve compensation if he moves on.

As someone else said, when the tribunal decides the price they consider how much time the player has spent at the club. Basically Plymouth will get less for Barnes than they would if he had come through their youth system, in theory.
