Gus seems be be chasing another winger, Will Buckley, so does this mean he is resigned to losing Bennett and not getting Lua lua? New signing Hoskin is also a winger but can play in the middle as well. If we do eventually land Buckley people might refer to us a a Bunch of Willies.

Most of these players can play through the middle as well, I love the idea of a fast fluid attacking 4/5 who can interchange and break at pace.

I think Bennett will stay with us. If we get Buckley it's because he's pure class. It's another option if lualua doesn't come off. I hope it does and we have a squad boasting Bennett, LuaLua, Hoskins, Buckley and Noone.

Signing Buckley would fit in with Gus' idea of deploying Bennett through the middle, don't think there is any need to assume Bennett is leaving as we are not looking at players for his position?!

Hoskins has been signed as an out and out striker and Buckley can play as a striker too.

Want 4 wingers for a squad. We have 1. Why does signing a second mean we will loose a ACM who can play a bit wide since we have no1 capable of playing out there? Bennett is similar position to Sparrow. Can play wide but not a winger as such just most attacking etc. of a bunch of CM so best to shift wider since we have 1 wide player currently!

Yes he prefers to play central. Good signing if he can cover wide positions too.

Listen to how Poyet talks about a player when he signs him, most of the time it's about how he can play in different positions.So if we sign a winger expect to see him in midfield or along side the main forward.

Adaptability is key but we would like an "out & out winger" would we not? Lua Lua would be one such type.

I'm not so sure that Gus wants wingers to only play as wingers. He likes players with skill and pace who can go past defenders, and have an eye for goal. Other, less enlightened, managers just happen to insist that these players can only be wingers. How often have we seen that players we are after are played as wingers, but prefer to play as a striker? Gus however, likes to play with these qualities in other positions, and obviously feels that he can develop wingers to fit into his style of play in other positions.

At least we aren't waiting to see what our targets are doing and pondering over elusive ones who aren't necessarily available.
Getting on with things, brushing aside any doubtful malingerers (like Murray had become), and moving forward.
