With Brighton he did not have a ridiculous bench, but his team had years of coaching and understanding of the tactical changes required. Potter often shuffled the pack on the field when the plan didn't work and our players were prepared for it.

Sorry we misunderstood. We didn't realise that you think the only way to change something is with a substitution. Your comments make sense now.

The rest of us were thinking about him going from back 3 to back 4 at the drop of a hat. No, I don't recall any tactical first half substitutions either. The last one I can recall (apart from Potter at Chelsea) was when we lost 0-4 at home to Stoke (I think) in the championship about 15 years ago, and Adams (I think) took someone off at 30 minutes.

But as others have sad, Potter changed things all the time and is famous for it. The substitution yesterday just seems to me like a slightly more flamboyant example.
