we got another draw in a game where we dominated. The lack of thought on substitutions was criminal.
I like Potter, but he's dragging us back to the Championship with pretty but ineffective football. He also comes as having no confidence in interviews, just bland, keep to the script type bull***t

If he stays (which he will) the very least he could do is draw a picture of a goal with a goalie in and big red X's in the areas where the Goalie isn't and nail copies to Tossard, Dunk and Maupay's eyes!

To those shouty "Potter out" types for whom results are everything, can you not step back and see the bigger picture? Would you really swap with Palace for example? Taking aside the rivalries, they will almost certainly finish above us, so I'm guessing you'd be happy with a dinosaur manager, ageing squad with no resale value, and sh!t football.

Just to put it in perspective, If our strikers had taken more care on 4 occasions, or we had 4 spawny deflections go in rather than wide, or 4 keepers had failed to make outstanding saves, we'd be about where saints are.

And I'd bet my life you'd all be crowing about our amazing playing style, our up-and-coming starlets and having the best young English manager around and the brightest future.

It's fine margins. Look at Sheffield United second goal. Could easily have been deflected over rather than in.

I recently moved from fence to out.
I am beginning to wonder if football has moved on from me. I get the greatest pleasure from seeing my team win, a team I have supported for over 50 years. I don't much care for possession stats and XG. In my probably old fashioned opinion the only true measure of success and failure is the league table. Don't get me wrong I love it when the team play well and win but I can honestly say playing well and not winning doesn't give me a great deal of pleasure.
I remember being at West Ham when Guy Butters headed the winner. The joy talking about it on the way home with my Dad. Not once did we say or care that we were lucky, or West Ham bossed possession or West Ham's XG was this or that.
I used to love the build up to games, love long discussions with Dad after the games and I am sorry but this team and this manager don't give me that.
Everyone could have predicted what would happen yesterday. Lovely play in the middle third, bossing possession stats, high XG but not winning. It is the same every week. I keep hearing 'on another night', can someone tell me when that night will be, they have been pretty rare over the past year.
I want that hope back, the expectation, the excitement.

I think a year of exactly the same type of performances, with the very occasional win, tells me that Potter is not the man for me. Or maybe my time with football is nearly up if the modern way is stats and XGs rather than wins.

I don't think a nails been better hit for a long time. :clap2:

I am quite the opposite to you. Winning under Hughton for example, certainly in the Premier League gave me very little or no joy at all, it was like we had robbed the bank when we got anything.
Had he not gone, I seriously doubt I would have renewed my season ticket.

People are even more frustrated under Potter currently because we can see just how more deserving of points we are. And its certainly not his fault we are not taking the chances.

We are fractions away from being a top ten side.

Our home form is absolutely disgraceful. Shambolic. Embarrassing. Ultimately that is the PE teachers fault. He should be ashamed of our results at home. Its not good enough and he needs to walk. Pathetic.

The problem is the old world of football will no longer work in the future and teams playing a certain way will lose week in week out. The penny will drop so those teams will then move over to the new way of playing in order to start winning again. I believe with Potter we are ahead of that curve, so painful as it may be at the moment we will start winning regularly again. Ok it may take a while but I think already we are seeing the progression that will eventually see us joining the elite clubs in the world of football. I also think Tony has a similar vision so Potter is not done by a long chalk

I don't think is is solely about missing chances. I think it is more about decision making. Last night would have been over by half time if certain players had made better decisions. I have been critical of Trossard in the past but last night I think he had a good game but having said that some of his decisions also cost us. If he had fed Mac instead of shooting then we could have had a couple of easy goals and been home and hosed. Many of the young players are still learning and will get better at decision making which in turn will mean that even I would be able to score goals in this team. An example is the open goal that Maupay had against Leeds. It was because on that occasion the participants all chose the right decision so we walked it into the net. No need for world class strikers if you can play like that

I completely understand your sentiment.. but... of course the joy is winning. The moment you highlighted was such a special moment, it lives long in the memory, But wasn't it so special because it was so unexpected at the time - we were relatively poor side vs. others. This is the difference for me.. I see most games now and believe we have a chance of getting something. I haven't felt that way in the PL or the old first division before. That's not xG or Stats, that's just what I think is the reality of what I see and how the games play out. The stats are not a replacement for winning - they are trotted out to justify an already formed opinion or feeling. I don't for a second suggest that winning under any circumstances wouldnt be preferable right now - I felt better after Leeds than last night but would suggest our football performance was better last night. But I do believe our approach and style is more likely to deliver more points with the players we have available. It hasn't yet - its horribly frustrating. I just don't think the answer is a new manager, just better finishing...

I'm just sick and tired of watching us now.

Not all Potter's fault, I'm fed up with Premier League football in general.

Similar ... I didn't even switch on last night. I'm sure once fans get back into stadiums and the 'real world' returns then I'll get my mojo back but totally lost interest now.

Can't see how players don't loathe it too and may account for some bizarre results and dodgy performances

I think the other thing that really annoys me about Potter is he completely fails to show passion. I want a manager to be someone who every so often shows they care, and maybe even apologise. But no, it's always "take the positives", "learn the lessons" and other management speak bollox. You could see the passion in Hughton, whereas Potter just comes across as a bit of a wet blanket.

All these Potter in or out threads are pointless. The club has made clear he ain't going anywhere, so just a waste of time debating it. Potter has set up a team to compete in every match this season bar one and a half. By my counting, that's outstanding. His teams create the chances, but don't convert enough of them. Is that his fault or the players he is given and has coached to get in those positions. My biggest disappointment against Fulham was the Trossard miss when Mac Allister was better placed to score. That might be the area that needs the coaching - awareness of others. I won't be joining any Potter Out callers and don't even read all these ridiculous threads. I just chose this one to make my point. Fulham is gone. Next up I'm interested in the build up to the Spurs match and will we sign Caicedo.

He literally can't do any more than he is. He set us up brilliantly every single match and every single match he is let down by our bottle jobs in front of goal.

So he literally couldn't have possibly used any of the four attacking options from the bench last night to replace "our bottle jobs in front of goal"? He literally couldn't?
