You do realise you can’t change your mind in the poll once you voted? Nobody who voted out then voted in at full time. I suspect that the early voters are those of us that want him out regardless of an FA cup result on the basis he’s a terrible manager. Those that voted later are prepared to give him some benefit for scraping through against a league 2 side. There is no knee jerking in that poll at all. Knee jerking means changing your decision.

He needs to adapt though. The 3-4-3 formation only works for me when we have Solly and Lamptey on either wing. There isn’t enough speed and direct running when others, such as Veltman or White play in this position. Players’ first touches seem to be cut inside and then pass it back across the middle again, we need to be quicker and more direct.

Another issue is that when we get in wide positions, especially on the right, it is Veltman or White delivering the cross. You want an attacker in these positions, who might take on a defender instead of always putting the cross in the box. There are similarities of the football under Hyypia with the complete wing backs he used to deploy. The issue is still the same, it’s taking too long for our wing backs to get into position and it slows the whole attack down.

Your point in the 1st paragraph is key here, the default action for all our established players, upon receipt of the ball, is to turn in or back and play what is often a slow, predictable, non threatening pass..... allowing and encouraging the press which then causes panic, particularly amongst our back 3 or 5.

This is the key characteristic of a Potter strategy,.... so for that reason I reiterate, Potter is not the man for me.

He’s turned some decent players into league one players . We are so predictable with our play and how we attempt to attack . There doesn’t seem to be any plan B other than random players moved out of position . He looks lost and out his depth and the team is going backwards.

I can’t see any way we stay up with Potter and I’m not convinced he has enough about him to sort us out in the championship .

It’s not enjoyable and hasn’t been for a while . We are digging a deeeper hole and limping down as things stand and there appears to be no idea from the sidelines how to reverse this .

Newport had too many good chances to be classed as that.

Very much on the fence of potter, but on him losing his job I am not sure its an entitled view to want him gone now.

For me, the frustrating thing about watching Brighton atm is that we will regain possession, have a great counter-attacking opportunity, be bombing up the pitch towards the opposition goal, and then whoever has the ball will check their run. Every time.

Yes, that gives a chance for more support to become available, but it also gives the opposition time to bring everyone back and organise themselves.

We then have to ping the ball around outside the opposition’s penalty area until we either inevitably cross it from a flank, or lose possession and all go racing back.

We really need to be coaching our forward players and midfield to know where they’re going to be running, and attack at pace, it gives opposing centre backs a scare and doesn’t give them time to organise. Look at the way Liverpool or Leicester approach attacking (and yes I know we don’t have Salah, Sane, Firmino) but this is how you score goals in the Premier League.

Am still "out" but will at least try and provide reasons on these threads. Last night was never going to be easy but many of the same old failings were evident. One or two better things though.

GOOD
1) Very dangerous from our own set pieces and very unlucky
2) Controlled most of the game against tricky opponents who always do well agianst Prem sides Cup games.

BAD
1) Cannot control a game once we score which leads to
2) Cannot hold on to a lead

I could take these two if they were one offs but it is every time we go in front seemingly. These ARE coachable and big failings in the Potter set up. Also

3) Insistence on "playing our football" despite opponents and conditions. Volleying back passes to maintain a 70% possession stat on that pitch is completely unforgiveable.

So, nothing to make me move but nothing to make me think he's not at least trying to turn it round.

Fair comments but struggling to get my head around how Potter can be held in anyway responsible for the comedy goal in the 95th minute of a game that should have gone to 94, which was the reason we didn’t hold the lead. The ref was almost as bad as the Wolves manager said he was imo too. So many mistakes, both ways

I’m not against IN/OUT polls just their frequency. We’ll probably go and beat City away on Wednesday, which bizarrely might upset some of the Potter OUT brigade. Maybe we need a POLL.

This is what's costing us, we don't play to win, we play to look nice and get some stats. Unfortunately the important stat keeps getting ignored.

The problem is a crisis of confidence in front of goal by certain players, changing the manager will not resolve that.

Sadly this was obvious at the start of the season however we may resolve this in the current transfer window

They should not have been up our end. Keep the ball, take it into the corners and if necessary give them a free kick near their own goal for them to hoof back to us.

We are brilliant at keeping the ball for 91 minutes but then cannot do it for another 4? Not buying that.

And, like I said, it is every game when we lead. We are not in any way clever and do not have a winning mentality.
