Pork pie land.
Hardly difficult to redirect 3 naval ships so quite why it should help his election chances is beyond me.

One might question why it's only been done day SIX of the problems - I hope our government can move faster in a real emergency.

What I am disgusted about is the atempt to make political gain out of our armed forces.

Exactly how are these small warships meant to be assisting. Surely, the chartering of a number of large passenger ships for the task would have been more appropriate, if any action was needed?

I've worked out that you could fit nearly 4000 sun loungers on the deck of HMS Ark Royal

Wow - are those X-Wing FIGHTERS at the back there ?
What a FLAIR Navy

Arn't most of the large passenger ships ALREADY involved in getting people around though ? Word is they're already fully booked / oversubscribed now as people use them as an alternative.

You can't book the Ark Royal through the Co-op travelshop.

if you read the article, HMS Albion was oringally being sent to pick up servicemen redirected to Spain. I imagine there isnt many large ship sitting around to be chartered and short notice, and its kinda the point of the navy in the first place to run off overseas and do the bidding of the Goverment, be that invade or repatriate stranded civilians.

i really dont see the political gain here.

Re. pic of HMS Ark Royal, isnt that the older one, the newr one having the angled front ramp.

The Phantom aircraft on the Ark Royal picture were retired in the late 1980s - just to give a clue to the age of the photo.

Not really political gain though is it. Dammed if they do dammed if they don't.
