Southend have put a bid in for Alex Revell

Soccer: Alex: I'd Revell in chance to join Southend

FORMER Cambridge United striker Alex Revell is targeting a move to the Shrimpers after recovering from the foot injury which scuppered a summer switch to Roots Hall.

The 21 year-old hit-man --who scored five goals in 19 starts for the U's -- snapped a bone in his right foot, but is now back training with the Blues after being released by the Abbey Stadium side.

"I'd definitely like to sign for Southend -- I love it here," revealed the front-runner.

"All the lads are brilliant and they have made me feel really welcome since I've been at the club. Hopefully I can get my game going, do well in training and get some games because who knows what might happen?

"Fingers crossed I might be able to sign though."

Revell, who has also appeared on loan for Kettering, finished the previous campaign training with the League Two side and has stayed in touch with Seasiders chief Steve Tilson.

"I spoke to Tilly again at the end of last week and he said he wanted me to come back in and train with the rest of the lads to get fit," explained Revell.

"Because of the injury I had it's a touch and go situation really because the bone is still growing back.
