The reason for having this friendly is to get the side ready for two important Euro qualifiers. Therefore, despite what many would like, Cappello has to avoid the temptation to pick 11 brand new faces and get on with the job of preparing.
I think whilst the public want new faces THE most important thing is new TACTICS.
I'd go with a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Milner and Barry being the 2 holding midfielders, and I'd bench Lampard. I'd then start with Gerrard off Rooney, but then sub him at half-time and play Lampard in EXACTLY the same role, i.e. to suggest they're both competing for the one place.
I'd partner Terry with whoever impresses me most in training out of Cahill or Jagielka, then let Terry shit himself over who gets dropped when Rio returns.
I'd also start with Ashley Cole but give Gibbs a half. I'd also bring Bobby on for Rooney after 65mins.
