The Walmer was originally The Walmer Castle in 1975 when I did the stocktaking there and was owned by a company called Lion Taverns which in turn was owned by Mrs Joseph and was given to her along with The Quadrant, The Sillwood and The Alhambra Bar by her husband Maxwell Joseph as part of their divorce settlement.

I nearly bought a flat Oval road.

Here is mine in jllly old Beckenham.

I know Oval road isn't exactly the Whitgift foundation but it's my favourite road in Croydon. You should buy a flat now and rent it to me and my girlfriend! Flats are advertised then let on the same day, it's almost impossible to get somewhere to rent there.

Your local looks pleasent, a far cry form my true local, the Alma tavern!

This is technically my closest -

The Burrell Arms, Haywards Heath

However, my actual local, as in the one I go to all the time:

The Stand Up Inn, Lindfield

Snap ... though it's touch and go whether the The Serg (Dolphin) is closer. Stand Up by a country mile!

I drink there if I am off on a Friday and I meet the Mrs from work, I used to go to the Beer tasting once a month but they changed the night. Yes its a bit of an odd place. Think its seen as a bit of a hip hangout. Thats why its survived.

Does the Hope and Anchor still exist (my local for three enjoyable years)

didnt realise titanic delivered so far south

Is the latter the Lewes arms and if so, do they still have the Titanic on tap, I got some bottles in Stoke the other week and your photo seems to show Steerage and an other on tap. If not where is this place that sells Burslems finest beer.

Sorry DerbyGull Q meant for Lord Bracknell

Does he post on here? Is he a taxi driver?

I don't think i'd admit to supporting Brighton in there, last few times i've been in there it's been full of headcases.

Our " local" is the Mile Oak Pub - I have only been in there a couple of times.

Never again

Yes he does. He exudes this 'tough guy' persona but I would think he is a big softy in reality..eh Paulie
