Possible"Big bid for an Albion Player" according to Naylor.

CMS was Gus' marquee signing, is a fans favourite and contributes SO MUCH to the team. Sheer lunacy to suggest he might be going anywhere, particularly as we paid BIG for him and would need to make money on a deal for it to be in any way worthwhile.

I don't think we'll see any bids for CMS, not even cheeky ones

Two things. Firstly this thread is about a potential bid - not whether we would accept it.

Secondly, say a lower premier league team offered Gus £3.5m I'm 90% sure he would take it. I'm also pretty sure he would be given advanced notice and would have someone else in mind. Like Simon Cox at WBA

Did we not sign him at the start of last season in a five-month contract, then renew it to make it a two-year deal instead, which would mean it runs out at the end of this year? Have I missed a renewal? My mistake if I have.

your mistake - contracted to july 2013

If we swap CMS for Cox & Reyes we wouldn't have to pay Peterborough a % as there is no onward profit from the transfer.

I still don't see it. For my mind CMS is not for sale at any price. We would NOT be able to bring in anyone even half as good. The size of any potential bid is irrelevant. And besides, I don't think to the outside world he has done enough to have increased in value since we paid £2.5m for him in the summer.

The lower premier league clubs will be looking at Lambert, McCormack or even Billy Sharp if they're on the lookout for firepower from the Championship. CMS was playing in League One last year, so a prem move in January would mean he'd jumped two divisions within a year and how often does that work out?

Reyes has 6 months left on his contract. Cox is a bit-part player for them. CMS is a Scottish international who played well against Spain and is starved of goalscoring opportunities at Brighton. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibilities personally

Never, not sure what WBA paid for Cox but they would throw him AND Reyes for CMS in my opinion. CMS despite all his hard work is STILL not proven at Championship level let alone Premier League

I think a straight swap for Reyes and Cox would be massively beneficial to us personally, forget how much everyone loves him and look at what he's bought to the team this season.

£5M for Dunky is not enough when the Nigels blag on about their players being worth at least £10M

Bids are one thing, but I'd be very surprised if any of our first teamers left in the window. The valuable players are on long contracts and we aren't desperate for cash.

Absolutely agree with this.

I tend to agree, but it could be argued that WBA are getting two unwanted players off their wage bill and taking in a player who might be good enough. At no extra cost.

Personally if this theoretical deal did happen I think we would have the better deal, but I don't think it's an outrageous deal

Well, we would have a better deal(probably). I think in this case though the bid May well be a cheeky one for Dunky

The January transfer window is about buying players who can make an immediate impact for a team for which you pay over the odds.I don't think we have any players that will attract a big enough fee that we can't turn down & would make an immediate impact for that team.
I MAY BE WRONG
