I don’t usually start positives threads when we lose but I enjoyed that so I will.

- Gruda looked very lively and with more game time will be a real option on the right.
- despite the comments on the match thread I thought Lamptey looked good and got a goal.
- Ferguson looked stronger and sharper than previous games
- Adingra didn’t have best game but scored again and could have had two. Considering he’s missed games and started only once in PL to be on four goals is an excellent effort.
- Hinshelwood back fit
- Estupinan and Mitoma looked sharp when they came on.
- Baleba got a rest.
- Steele made a number of really good saves.

Think that’s all I have. It’s a shame we lost but we can’t complain we didn’t give it a go towards the end.

Gruda & Adingra were both exciting I thought.
Igor played well.
We matched them better when they were stronger.
We didn't give up (apart from Weiffer, who did).
We didn't go out on penalties, which I hate doing.

This is a really important point and should breed confidence for the weekend. It was weird. I feared 1-5 when Salah and Nunez came on but it seemed to raise us a level. The weekend isn’t a write off game by any stretch of the imagination
Agreed, and we will have a completely different eleven on Saturday. Mitoma looked good for the short period he played, a level above the likes of Enciso, etc. I’m sure we will give Liverpool another good game at Anfield.

Good points.

Lamptey looked devastating when attacking (back to his best) but is too small and has inadequate positional sense to be a full back.

Perhaps play him as an impact sub winger, on the other side to Mitoma.

Agree. TV commentator going on about how devastated we will be after conceding, (the predictable tabloid twat) but we instead got on with it and kept at them the entire second half.

We look like a really decent side, and will look even better when we play more of the sharper lads from the start.

Loved that Fergy looks like he has his mojo back. He will only get better, now.

You make all good points, other than I politely disagree with your assessment of Lamptey, I think he’s a really likeable guy but not good enough for us anymore.

I’d add that Igor had a good game and takes no blame for any of the 3 goals.
Agree with your points on both Igor and Lamptey. I think Igor's played well in each game he's played this season.

Lamptey though?! Absolutely shocking defensively. He's just not a PL standard full back.
