Sussex but not by the sea
The last 15 minutes. We may have finally worked out that the way to create chances against teams that put all 11 players in their own penalty area is variation, to cross the ball, quickly, before they get fully set, and keep doing it. We could have scored 3 goals in stoppage time! It’s about variation of play.

Until that last 15 mins I was struggling to remember the last chance that we actually created for Evan in the penalty area? Stick the ball in and he suddenly looks a threat again.

Extending the record of longest streak of games in top flight history of goals scored by both teams.

Im actually quite upbeat about it all. Im certainly not wearing Albion tinted spectacles but our starting line up was no where near the strongest we could field when everyone is fit again. Gross out of position, Milner just a season too late, Baleba and Dahoud wouldnt start in that holding 2, Lallana is a luxury and Pedro and Ferguson wouldnt normally start the game together. But it looks as though the fringe players and newly bought players are starting to get the hang of De Zerbi ball. Igor is getting there, Buonanotte is getting time and confidence, Hinshelwood has been a massive bonus and other youngsters are getting time with the squad. It may not all go to plan this year, and there are areas we need to strengthen, but Im excited for next season and later in this one when we have a squad that can all play a more fluent version of DZ Ball.

Yes, but that's not modern, scientific style football, is it? It's old style pass-it-up-the-wing and wang it over into the box football, innit. Mowbray, Dyche, Big Sam, Redknapp et al would approve, but do we really want dinosaur football at the Albion, even if eschewing it means sometimes not winning matches we should win?
Shirley not - leave that to the plebs and cloggers, eh!

Last 15 minutes if it's looking dangerous and 75 minutes earlier not so much, then maybe.
I think it was more upping the tempo near the end of the game was the key though.

The dull part of the south coast
Yeah, exactly this.

They are trying hard, but the reserve team just isn't as good as the first team, and we still can't defend.

It could end up a bad attack of the Southamptons - developing loads of high class players, but eventually selling too many and unable to replace with the same quality.
Yes, I think we all realise that. So, in the meantime let’s just sodding well enjoy it eh? If you want to go down the road of doom and gloom take a gander at what’s happening at Newcastle, or Man Utd, or Chelsea.

Southampton’s problem wasn’t running out of high class players but their owner dying, and the family not wanting to invest in the club.
