We need to find a way to beat sides who just pack the middle of the defensive third.

We need to find a way to beat sides who just pack the middle of the defensive third.

Attacking with pace when the opposition lose the ball in our box on a rare breakaway would seem the most logical tactic to me, but for some reason we seem to have binned that idea and build slowly letting the opposition get back to packing their defence.

I am guessing it can’t be that simple or we’d do it though

Agreeing with all the “Wembley is overrated” comments.

i had never thought we would get through this, but given the injury list for this match - 9, yes nine players out - we were not disgraced.

i was surprised to see Barco come on - “he won’t know how we play “ - but he was up for it…. And Enciso!

How long has Baleba had now? I'll give you a clue; 8 months.

If Baleba is the answer, I’d hate to know what the question is.

Get that he’s raw, but he looks like a rabbit in headlights…exactly how I’d look if you dropped me in there last night.

Best recent comparison for age, position and physicality would be Bissouma, but Biss was streets ahead of Baleba when he joined us.

I’ll give you another clue, 15 League appearances in those eight months. So yes, give the guy a break.
I really, really want to. When he played 20 or so minutes on his debut he looked great. Carried the ball forward with pace, got back well when we lost possession, and covered acres of ground. Unfortunately, his first touch looks on a par with CMS, he constantly overhits or misplaces passes and he panics when receiving the ball on the half-turn from the CBs. Last night he drifted aimlessly round the pitch without conntributing anything of value. I wonder whether he is extremely nervous and feeling the weight of expectation on his shoulders?
Gilmour made 14 appearances last season and was ready to start and contribute.

As others have said, Wembley is shit. The journey back last year was an absolute nightmare.

Also, it’s almost guaranteed either Man City or Liverpool will win it.
