There was a group of youngish Roma fans on my train back to Gatwick. They were friendly(they were through of course) - were hoping for Liverpool in the qfs but I’m sure a battle with Milan will be spicy enough

roma fan here. thanks for the games guys. having heard about how the efl cup goes for big teams i was a bit surprised you didn't score more against our c/b team but in your defense, you're missing your top players and our back four and gk were are starters. positives for you to take away: you guys definitely won the banner wars. some of our low-iq fans insulted the queen, you guys said our king likes hawaiian pizza. that is absolutely hilarious, classier, and a much bigger insult than what we said lmao. had a good chuckle over that one. glad to see the loyal fans stick around for the end and your players talking with our players. your club making complaints after getting outplayed and the plastic fans leaving the stadium early seemed in bad taste but it was nice to see there's some class in brighton, english fans get such a bad rap everywhere else for not being actual fans. you guys seem to be a cut above the others. your stadium seemed to have a better atmosphere than any match we've played against man city, chelsea, or utd. i'll be rooting for you guys to make it back to europe. i'm not gonna watch a premier league match it's like watching above-average athletic youth teams play but you'll be in my thoughts at least :)
Nice post. The banner last laugh is also that a fare number of Brighton fans are republicans and even the Monarchists would accept Elizabeth would have fellated Philip.
Strangely I was thinking a positive from last night is that we won't have to watch classic dour Italian football for at least another year. It was like Fulham on steroids and hopefully your new boss will iron out all that Mourinio time wasting. I went with a Chelsea fan last night and he was utterly bored to see big center backs and someone on the floor every minute.

The big ones are that we've won back to back games and kept consecutive clean sheets so we should go into the two weeks off in a much more positive mindspace than we were in a week ago.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Roma shithousing. Don't get me wrong it would have driven me crazy if we had a realistic chance of qualifying but we didn't so I just took it as a bit of pantomime. It was quite cool experiencing first hand(or at least on a stream) proper European quality shithousery. Villa are the worst we've got in England but they've got some way to go to match our continental cousins. It's something we need to learn to deal with and indulge in ourselves if we return to European football.

hopefully it's something you guys will have to get used to and learn to do yourselves. I remember before we went on this string of deep runs in europe (4 semi-finals in 6 years wtf) I used to get upset with the barcelonas and munichs for doing exactly that, not realizing it was a big part of how they were able to control matches even when they were slipping. Now that we're finally on the other side of things (at least in europe, let's not talk about us playing domestically lmao) I get it. I was okay with it in general in the first leg because you guys were playing our own game against us with the physical play. With experience, your players will learn to do it properly without knocking people in the face. The only one in the first leg where I was a bit upset and initially thought we were diving turned out to be, after watching the replay, what should've been a straight red if europa had decent var. The second leg was strategic and I support that too. We were playing with four teenagers/20 year olds, an out of position midfield missing our general who dictates the tempo, and a front three that have never played together and don't even have 30 appearances this season combined, we knew we were going to soak pressure and our only chance was to disrupt the play. So any contact you guys made was going to result in asking for a call. It's how you win ties at this stage. It's frustrating to watch when you're behind (believe me, we've been there) but it's something the players will have to learn to do for you guys to take the next step. It took us 90 years to figure out but once we did things started rolling pretty quickly.

We shouldve done what you did last night, when in Rome. Get back to the Amex on terms or closer, where our record is good and maybe just maybe.......

Good luck v Milan, may the best Shithouser win!!

Out of interest - which incident was that?

I can only imagine that he means the challenge by JPVH on the half way line, in the first half. He got a yellow for it, and I think there was a brief check, but the replays showed that whilst he lunged in a bit, he made barely any contact at all.

But he still made contact !! That should have been a red (hasn't been discussed on this board much !)

Dunk went absolutely mental at him.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

It was an ill-advised challenge, and my heart was in my mouth for a moment, but I do think a red would have been extraordinarily harsh.

They seemed to deal with the Shithousing quite well in the WC and beyond by adding every bit to very long extra time periods. Remember the 10+ minute ETs

That's all seemed to have stopped again, which only encourages the cheating.
