[Football] Portugal v Ireland

Wouldn’t mind but it was two England centre forward goals, Jack Charlton would be weeping. 5 minutes of injury time 96th minute winner, **** you ref

In fairness, he's just become the greatest International goalscorer in the history of Association Football.

But he is one huge cock.

Great experience for Duffy prior to our two matches against Utd. Lot’s of lessons to learn about Ronaldo’s huge aerial threat.

This is Thierry Henry territory when you think the ref and VAR robbed them of a clear penalty for 2-0

But during that 5 minutes there should have been reasons for him to extend it as much as he did.

We all know how it goes. If a team is on the attack, the ref will usually let it play out till the ball goes dead. Maybe it should be an official rule, like in rugby.

There was a VAR check during the 5 added minutes, that accounted for the 30 seconds, to be honest.

Was just about to post is the ref letting the match carry on so Portugal can score again and it seemed he actually was.

Shocking display by the match officials - way above injury time in the first half because Portugal were attacking - added added time at the end because Portugal were attacking - every time a Portuguese player fell over in the box there was a VAR review (including the penalty they got despite the fact that Hendrick got the ball and made no contact) and when Connolly gets shoved off the ball 6yards out from Portugal's goal there is no review. If there was ever a demonstration of the officials favouring the top ten team against a team 50 places below them - then this was it - and this is happening more and more often.

The Irish were magnificent - and I have been a harsh critic of Kenny - but this team came to play. They attacked when they could and they defended like demons. Egan demonstrated tonight that he is PL quality, Duffy was great, Omobamidele was brilliant when he came on, Idah led the line magnificently, Bazunu made two world class saves, Doherty and Coleman controlled everything that came their way, Josh Cullen showed why West Ham should never have let him leave. They frustrated a Portugal team who thought all they had to do was show up and they were a credit to their craft. This Irish team has a bright future with some great players coming through.

Would the VAR check add a further minute? Does that count as a stoppage? Gutted for (COY)BIG

This.

They even tried there best to see if the keeper moved for the penalty. The VAR alone for that was over 30 secs. All the checks put together for a challenge on Ireland didn't amount to that.
