My thoughts. If you have the amount of sun plus winds from the Atlantic they have, it possibly makes it easier.

Wind farms should be going up everywhere in my opinion

Lets kill two birds with one stone and start building windmills again, but plug them straight in to the national grid. Solve the housing issue and energy generation. Big discount on cost of house building covered by return on energy generation.

I don't really understand the issue with wind farms, I think the wind turbines look quite nice.

Not in the Winter I worked in Lisbon for a Month in october 2015 and it pretty much pissed down the whole month

It doesn't do that in the Algarve; 330 sunny days per year on average.
