It wont happen, even if Adams hasn't got what it takes he still has too good a team to go down this season. probably do a southgate and be there for a few years with little results to show for.
Hmmm, on the one hand, they have enough big name players to easily stay clear of trouble.
On the other, if the number of star players determines your position, then Spurs (Modric, Lennon, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko etc) wouldn't be bottom of the Premier League, and historically, teams like West Ham (Defoe, Carrick etc), Leeds, and, going back even further, Nottingham Forest would never have fallen out of the top division.
Tony Adams was a legend as a player, for Arsenal fans at least, but I don't know if he's got the right qualities to be a manager. I can't help but think of that Wycombe game down here, when we were 4-0 up, they'd just had Roger Johnson sent off, and Adams (T) stood on the touchline looking totally and utterly bewildered. I don't think he's a good enough man-manager to be able to handle different personalities and abilities. His first real decision as boss last night was to drop Pompey's top goalscorer, Jermain Defoe, FFS!
Let's say they lose a few games over the next month or so. Confidence amongst the squad drops, and they start to wonder if they're as good as they thought, or whether their success was all down to Redknapp, then they lose a few more games. Spurs nick their best players in January and they're left with a midfield of Richard Hughes and Papa Bouba Diop. Not so good now.
I can't quite see them going down this season, but you never know. And at 40/1, if you're a betting man, it looks great value for a cheeky few quid.
