The Porsche would probably handle alot better, I love Porsches they are a real enthusiasts car. But TBH Ive not looked into the new Jags.

The 911 (997 and 991 models) C4S and Turbos are my dream cars. And either the classic 930 or 3.2 whale tale 911's would be my choice if could have classic Sunday car to bring out in the summer :D

The Cayman is a boxster with a roof essentially but that;d be the one for me.

Jag. Driven the V6 soft top. Quite liked it. Nice place to sit in. I like Porsches but never felt the need to own one. Would chose many more cars over a porsche personally. Also, put the Jag into sports mode and watch the dash go red! Nice little touch.

The Jag is stunning, in either form currently available, but the up specced 5.2 (?) litre engine with all the carbon fibre and other weight saving bits n pieces means it really is very very special. It also has better mpg than my current car!

Jag exhaust sounds awesome especially when downshifting. Cayman is a poor mans 911. I would have recently gone for the f-type if I didn't need some bigger for work, plumped for new X5

I'm confused, i thought the choice was

It's fair to say they are both excellent cars - and a lot of it will come down to personal preferences. The F-Type is a massive step forward from anything the company has done for the past goodness knows how many years, but Porsche has improved on the Cayman since it was launched, and the new one is a far more engaging sportscar than the previous generation (which was, in itself, a fine vehicle).

Sounds a bit of a cliché, but it IS like a mini 911. In fact, in the real-world, it's almost a better option, especially if you don't want to pick up points.

Part of the thrill for me about the F-Type was the noise of the V8, but you can't buy a car based on that alone - not to mention the amount it would cost in fuel. The V6 is still a great car, but if it was me in your shoes, I'd go for the Porsche.

To be honest, you can't go wrong with either of them and, like I say, it's going to come down to personal preference. I can't understand people that judge a car on it's looks - it's all so subjective. Drive both, and make a decision from which one you enjoy the most, and can see yourself living with.

Good luck - I'm envious of you having the choice

Really good response this, you are right the new Cayman is a really good car as is the new Boxster which is worth a good look at especially in red, its a fine looking car. Could I just mention one thing that no-one has seemed to have factored in in their response to the original question as yet. That is the dreaded 'DEPRECIATION' factor. Only really something not to consider if this is a lease or company car deal rather than a straight purchase.
