what with it being a bit grim outside and having got up in darkness a few times of late I've got a hankering for hitting the porridge

the question is:

what's the best porridge recipe?

oh, sorry you meant making porridge not doing it...I cheat and buy oatso simple, it ain't that bad. Alternatively get a big bag of porridge oats and make your own, easily done using a microwave, use a spoon of honey to sweeten it instead of sugar and add whatever flavouring you like, can recommend tinned pineapple...it's gorgeous...

Smother your porridge with marmite, mushrooms and spinach and send the whole concoction to room 101, never to be seen again.

Porridge is really easy, my kids eat it all the time.

Put a pint and a half of milk or water, or a combination of the two in a saucepan, add a pinch of salt. As it comes to the boil slowly pour in 2 ounzes of oatmeal. Stir with a fork at the same time and keep stirring until all the lumps are beaten out. Boil for about 15 minutes. Eat!

Or if you want to do it in the microwave 2 parts liquid (water or milk, or combination) one part porridge oats, put into a bowl (make sure it's large enough for it to rise). Microwave for 3 minutes, stirring a few times. That usually works best if you just use cold water, the milk goes funny.
