Hooliganism is interesting. What made people get involved? We looked at it briefly in sociology. I wouldn't dare get into it, however, I find it fascinating.

Did you watch the Donal MacIntyre 'Chelsea Headhunters' documentary?

Everyone loves a 'hoolie' thread. EVERYONE.

However, loving a thread about it doesn't mean you necessarily want to partake. I'm fascinated by poisonous snakes - doesn't mean I want to run barefoot through the Australian outback.

I did, although the only bit I can remember is him fainting when getting a tattoo done.

I looked at the thread because I was curious what had happened. I had hoped that it had been Wolves starting trouble and self-defence on our part. Sadly not it would seem. I'm personally of the belief that violence in football has had its day. There's no need for it.

My dad used to run with the Bosun boys and, whilst I find the stories interesting, I do sit there wondering "Why? Why do this?" Seems to me that if you want to show support for your team that you turn up to the game, sing your heart out and do it that way. Not turn up to a game and start lumping people.

we seem to have a hard core socialist real ale type poster we must also attract a huge number that find the hooligan element very interesting.
I like watching war films, some people even like watching horror. The world is in great danger.

Hooliganism is an adrenaline buzz. It's exciting; you may have a good experience of showing a good turn-out and the other lot bricking it or come off worse, take a horrible beating and have cuts and bruises. That's the unpredictability that can make you feel alive. When drugs came on to the scene in the late eighties, lads turned to the rave culture and trouble stopped. And after Heysel, the Luton v Millwall riots and unrelated Hillsborough disaster, things HAD to change. The Police said they nipped it in the bud. Did they balls. It was the loved-up feeling of ecstasy that stopped that.

Now, trouble is rare with CCTV everywhere and banning orders imposed. But when I hear of confrontations like Saturday I find it a topic I'm very interested in and I have never been part of any firm at anytime. :)

No I haven't, I haven't really watched any documentaries, other than Dyer's load shit 'the real football factories' which caused more laughs than serious discussion about the origins of hooliganism. I might look out for that one though.

Listen your slaaaagggs. Lots of people look up to the likes of myself, Armadillo Andy, Big Vern, Scratchcard and Uncle Morty as role models and THAT is why people look at our threads, it's a form of respect. Remember, when we were in our heyday you could walk the streets at night safely, old ladies were happy to cross the road, NO kiddie fiddlers and you could leave your back doors open without worrying (except in Kemp Town).

We might have had a sherbert or two before a match, get involved in a bit of LAIRYNESS, but we were feared the length and breadth of my imagination. It was top boy on top boy, but Big Vern went TWENTY SIX games of PacMan undefeated in 1979-80, beating all that Spurs, Arsenal, the Bindippers and the Mancs had to offer. He even managed to turn over Villa's legendary David Davidson (known as 'Dave' to those ITK) over a best of three at Missile Command despite having drunk two bottles of Tizer and having a rectal prolapse the previous evening after THREE Grubb's chill burgers.

That's why the pups of today still nod in our direction, and even the local OB part like the waves before Moses when we come a calling into their town.

Alright?
thank you

Like your posts. Trying to work out who you are LP. Are you @elpresidente? Do I win £5?

It was is quite a worry that a thread regarding unsavoury behaviour attracted 17,000 views yesterday, but when posting about football development and youth football it only attracts a handful of contributors.Although we seem to have a hard core socialist real ale type poster we must also attract a huge number that find the hooligan element very interesting.
I would hate to feel that this group were feeding off nsc to fuel the new wave of foot soldier???

Why do we never hear of this sort of thing happening outside rugby grounds?

All those who condone violence and hooliganism if it happens between like-minded individuals, need to remember their actions waste resources and taxpayers' money on emergency services etc. They only help fan the flames of tribal warfare that spoilt matches and communities over the decades. What kind of thrill do they get from throwing punches at complete strangers. Don't forget, these people will now be the minority, and if club sponsors pull out of contracts, the rest of us will lose out. If we end up getting fined or deducted points for the sake of an hour or so of brawling, the rest of us will suffer. It's just not fair or right. Get a real hobby. Like model building or beekeeping.
