[NSC] Pop up ads - a real nuisance. Time for subscription fees?!

I’m visiting NSC via Chrome on an iPhone and am finding the experience almost as jarring as The Argus website.

Pop ups galore. Threads skipping whilst reading as ads load and morph.

Really annoying privacy widget on the left hand side.

@Bozza how much would you have to charge on monthly subscription fees to avoid all of this guff?! It’s utterly ridiculous.

I think @Bozza has introduced a “subscription membership” that gives the subscriber better access without the ads ?

Lots of options 👍

I certainly don't resent the idea of ads in general to pay for this otherwise free site, but yeah, on mobile in particular it's becoming close to usable. It used to be just an ad that popped up at the bottom and could be easily ignored. Then it started with these ads that would briefly push in from the sides as well as the bottom before retreating to just the bottom. Those were rather jarring (I remember Walmart being one I'd see). Now I'm getting these super obnoxious ones that start at the bottom, become full screen when you scroll, then hide back at the bottom. Worse of all, they have a close X, but if you click that, it closes until you scroll a bit more and then the buggering thing comes back again.

I don't want to have to run an ad blocker, but it really is getting a bit frustrating.
