Poor Watto

Cash constraints at Coventry City mean that Micky Adams will not be able to sign Paul Watson. The former Brighton defender, who impressed during pre-season,scored in a reserve team practice game yesterday at Ryton but will not signed on until at least January when the transfer window reopens and only then if the club have the finances.

Adams said: "I would love to take both Watson and Andy Impey, "but unfortunately we haven't got any money. "I feel for the lads because they are in limbo with nowhere to go and they are both good enough to be members of our squad."

Do we still hold his contract? I thought non-contract players can still sign for clubs after yesterdays transfer deadline. I'm sure he will find himself a new club.

Perhaps in light of Dodd's injury he should be invited back on a non contract basis maybe

Actaully Mickey Adams said a month ago that he couldn't afford to sign Paul Watson. While I have every sympathy for him I honestly don't think he's up to the grade here.

Coventry might have a briiliant new stadium but I notice that some of theor fans are already demanding the removal of the board as Coventry are barassic.

Hey Mickey, 'You should have stayed with a big club'

I'd possibly agree that he wouldn't command a first team place however in a summer where we have either let go or sold four defenders and have only two come in it does seem that we are only another injury or suspension away from a bit of a crisis as we are already converting midfielders and wingers into defensive positions. He's a good pro and could have been offered a squad place this season as cover. Maybe he was and he didn't want to.

I think we have nine defenders in the first squad of which two are now injured and two are very inexperienced leaving five 'experienced' pro's after four places. Compare that to the five strikers fighting for the two places or even one. I suppose that's what the loan system is for but you seem to have to go through a few turkeys before you get the gems and that can cost valuable points.

Would you return to a club that only months earlier had released you because you weren't considered to be up to the job?

I dont think it was a case of not being up to the job. It had more to do with his injuries last season. He was out of contract and Mcghee wanted to go with youth.

I would love to see him back here tho. As far as i know his house is still up for sale ......??? ???

Well if Bill Knight decides to replace MM with any of us I'll go along with that, otherwise I remain BK's sexual advisor.

but he was crap at left b ack for some reason

Yes, he always backed off players.

I think he is better in midfield and could do a decent job for somebody there.
