easy it was an answer to this line
In an ideal world(ME as ALBION CHAIRMAN) i would do away with the Brighton Ladies team from cost saving point of view..
ps i dont and have never said i expect it to be mass market no more than say songs of praise, or the sky at night are

Its never going to be mass market, I just expected the BBC to be better!

p.s. When I started this thread, I expected the 'we hate womens football' posts, but I think you protest too much GoldWithFalmer :p

I've tried before quite a few times, it was crap. I'm all for women playing if they choose, as I would be for men playing netball but its not a spectator sport I'd watch, seen better league 2 matches than many international womens games. enjoy it.... Holland v Portugal for me

The Euro games are at 7.45 :)

I watch womens tennis (hate the grunting though) and womens golf, but find the level of play of womens football just not good enough to watch - I wish it was. It's just too slow and not a very high skill level (far better than I could ever have done, I'm sure).

I understand where you're coming from, but I tend to be able to watch it when it's England. To be honest, if England (or Britain) are playing any sport, even tiddlywinks, I'd probably be able to watch it and cheer them on. I realise this may be a sad indictment on my life... :lolol:

I went and watched the England women's team when they played at the Goldstone (against Iceland I think). I'd never seen women's football before and close up I was actually quite impressed with the standard, it was certainly better than I was expecting.

No, the top women are not as good as the top men, nowhere near, and the women's games always look so slow on the TV (and the goalies are SHIT), but for a bit of comparison one year I wish they'd let the England Women's team compete in the (male) FA Cup. They'd probably have to let them in at the same level as the Conference clubs as they'd piss all over the likes of Worthing.

No, I'm the same, I support England at anything. And I really enjoyed the women's Rugby world cup. (On that note and as an aside to this thread: well done Maggie 'The Machine' Alphonsi for getting the MBE).

Having just received tickets for the Olympic Women's Football Final at Wembley, I'm struck by the fact that the Official Spectator Guide that comes with the tickets describes the tournament as, simply, "Football". The schedule of matches is colour coded to distinguish between Men's Events and Women's Events, but there is no suggestion that there are two separate sports, one of which is called "Women's Football".

There's a paragraph in the leaflet that explains "The Basics" of the sport, as well - handy, no doubt, for any Taekwondo fans who failed to get tickets for their favourite event and end up having to go to Newcastle to watch something else:-

The basics
The aim of Football is to score more goals than the opposition.

I used to share a house with three members of the England tiddlywinks team. Trust me, they didn't need cheering on. Someone to mop up the spilt beer was all that they wanted.

It is difficult for girls to continue in sport once they leave school. They have very few female sport role models. Woman in sport at the top level, England out do their male evquivant the majority of the time, but you never hear about.

My daughter is lucky in her sport of choice (track cycling) she has quite few role models. Victoria Pendleton is as famous as Chris Hoy.
