It felt at half time that he was working under the belief keeping his cards in his pockets meant he'd had a good game. Irritates me when referees get criticised for giving yellow or red cards as if it's their job to make sure all 22 men stay on the pitch.

Second half in particular, I thought he let a few or our niggly challenges go. And a clear foul or two by us. So I wasn't overly upset when he let some of their challenges go.

He completely missed the ball, in fact never got close to it, and endangered his opposing player in the process.

He was close to the ball, as the video clearly show, but didn't get it as he lost the header. And with your reasoning every duel endangers both players in every situation as you can never be sure you'll win the challenge. In basketball or high jump, this might be a cardable offense but not in football. Losing an aerial duel and accidentally injure thè opponent is generally not something you get a card for unless you use elbows and shit.

I think even us getting a free kick was a bit "lucky" but sure, James was a tad bit late so I won't argue much about that.

Complete bullshit, they are both going for the ball and it's just bad luck.

In general I didn't pay enough attention to James to think about whether or not he should have been sent off but this duel is nothing, barely a free kick.

All that proves is that it was a red card all day long. Late and takes the player out in the air. That's a sin bin in Rugby Union and we were playing football.

I do take in to account the post later than yours that says this was a regulation challenge in the past - because in the 70s and 80s it would have been. But then in the 70s and 80s there would have been actual fighting on the terraces during the game before everyone went off to wait for the pub to reopen so they could have a pint of pisswater before they went home to watch racists telling jokes on black and white televisions.

Suspended for allowing a ghost goal and then relegated from the select referees list. For a reason. And backed by Mike Riley.

Think that sums today up, really.

That's the problem when referees are overseen by other referees, make mistakes and thery get overlooked. They look after their own.

As said that shows him turning his back into Burn and is the worst angle. I can tell you from the side on view it really is not pretty.

Since I have now answered your question twice how about answering mine.

Strange that he booked Dunk for the 1st foul he committed when every challenge that Zouma made was a foul, and as for James!

You'd think the ref had only discovered his cards down the side of the halftime couch. No cards in the first half, FIVE in the second half. Really? Did his boss have a word or something? As for that gormless lino on the left looking out from the North, he might as well have not been there, seeing as how he was taking his cue from the ref for the simplest of throw-in decisions. Has VAR destroyed match officials confidence or something? Certainly looked like it today.

It happens in every game that someone loses a header because they are a bit late and the other player falls to the ground. Multiple times every single game. Is it always a red card?

And yes I do take in to account that today nothing is allowed on the pitch. But then today we have whiny little ***** as world leaders, spend nine hours a day whining on social media and get offended by everything and then go home and cry about why the world is not exactly shaped for them and their ideas and preferences. You are implying that rules of football are improving in sync with society, my view is that both are deteriorating - **** balletball and open those pub gates.

Looks to me like he goes in full whack, shoulder first with scant regard, and takes Burn out breaking his collar bone in the process

He chose the "stern talking to" route with them several times, enabling them to continue with their persistent fouling. Basically it gave the likes of James and Zouma another free hit for later on.

Absolutely pathetic refereeing.

Agree.

Added to which we are far too nice. If we had done that to one of them they would have been screaming at the ref. We never appear to question a decision. All very honourable but doesn’t benefit us at all.
