And so it starts all over again. Like I have said time and time again, anyone taking over with a substantial amount of cash should pay back the debts the club previously owed.
I know its not fair that someone else should pay off the debts, but it would certainly make these new owners think twice about taking over a club.

We know the story here don't we. Lots of money lumped on new players + wages, 2 years down the line after a failed bid for the premiership club goes in to administration. Companies and HMRC are left out of pocket again.

This, but will we all be very surprised and see the new owners do what their rivals along the coast did and pay back the debts in full?

I don't agree with that C2F, its a moral argument, but it doesn't work that way in other forms of business, why should a prospective new owner pay foe the mistakes of an old owner when they had no involvement with the business.

If you bought a new car that had 1000's in outstanding finance on it and speeding tickets from the previous owner, would you feel morally obliged to make sure the bank and police got their money?

Allegations
Antonov's interests (29.9% of the shares) in Spyker Cars were said to have delayed the purchase of Saab Automobile in late 2009. An investigation by the Swedish monetary agency Riksgälden and the Swedish security police Säpo had allegedly found connections between the Antonov family and organized crime, as well as involvement in money laundering. Säpo reported their findings to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, and shortly afterwards GM stopped further talks about the deal until the Antonov family had sold their shares in Spyker Cars.[24]

So that's nice then.

CSI Portsmouth seems rather appropriate for the events that will inevitably unfold.

So what company is going to offer them more than a few thousand pounds credit? It's time for companies to learn and keep a tight rain on these clubs.

Have I misread this. Portsmouth has been sold, but where is there any mention of debts and people not being paid? Isn't this just one bunmch of shady folk flogging a crap football club to another bunch? No indication of winding up here.

Either way, It's nice for Pompey to get a mention on here. With all the Palarse and SCC bashing on here of late the poor sods have hardly had a look in.

I'm just curious why a couple of Russian businessmen are suddenly investing in an average Championship club. I can't see what's in it for them? They're no nearer to relocating or redeveloping Fratton Park so where's the financial incentive, unless PFC can get back to the Premier League sharpish?

This is a total stab in the dark and with no basis but check the end of this little cycle...

....... so where's the financial incentive......

with football (with one or two exceptions) being largely cash based I would think there are any number of ways to lose a few lorry-loads of used notes in the system - if that was what you wanted to do of course.
