Vankleek Hill, actually....
Sky Sports | Football News | Premier League | Tottenham Hotspur | Pompey to pay Spurs for Begovic

The Premier League has told Portsmouth they must pay Tottenham ₤1million for the failed transfer of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Begovic joined Stoke on deadline day in January and an agreement had been reached with Tottenham that, if they failed to sign Begovic, Portsmouth would repay them ₤1m as part of a double deal that involved Younes Kaboul returning to White Hart Lane.

Sky Sports News understands Tottenham agreed to help Portsmouth, who needed an extra ₤1million to help pay off creditors, on the basis that the deal was likely to happen imminently and Begovic would join them as well as Kaboul.

A clause was agreed that Portsmouth would owe them ₤1million if Begovic moved to another club

Portsmouth's administrator Andrew Andronikou confirmed to Sky Sports News on Friday that he had been told by the Premier League to pay Tottenham but that he would appeal their decision.

FFS.... How much more money are Pompey going to owe?

Sorry, I don't understand this. Portsmouth had to pay if Begovic moved to another club and he did move to another club.

What's the grounds for the appeal? That the month has an R in it? That the deal was signed with crossed fingers? That they don't think Stoke is a football club? That Portsmouth are a bunch of dishonest shysters? Seriously, I'd love to know the grounds.

Pompey are appealing.

No, no they are f***ing not. When will the media realise that? They should start referring to them as "The Fratton Park Wankers" rather than their real name.

The Premier League are going to withhold a million quid from Pompeys 2011 parachute payments, and give it to Spurs.

Suck on THAT, Andronikou.

I hope Portsmouth go down like a gangster with a very large lead weight tied to their ankles.

They stink more than a sewerage plant on a hot summers day

Am I?

I was argumentative on the Sussex/Worcs thread because I thought that some of the criticism of two teams trying to win a game and entertain people was crazy. But I'm sweetness and light the rest of the time (apart from dealing with Portsmouth of course).:lolol:

Sorry, I don't understand this. Portsmouth had to pay if Begovic moved to another club and he did move to another club.

As I understand it, Tottenham understood Portsmouth to be in trouble, so while striking a deal for kaboul, gave Pompey an extra £1m, on the understanding that when Tottenham signed Begovic, as they were planning to do, that million would be like an advance, and if Begovic went to another club, Pompey would pay them back.

When Begovic went to stoke instead, the £1m became essentially a loan, and Tottenham now want pompey to pay it back.

Well yes. I understand that, what I don't understand is why Portsmouth dispute it
