I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he

"In Salt Lake, Joe," says I to him,
Him standing by my bed,
"They framed you on a murder charge,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead."

"The copper bosses killed you, Joe,
They shot you, Joe," says I.
"Takes more than guns to kill a man,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die."

And standing there as big as life
And smiling with his eyes
Joe says, "What they forgot to kill
Went on to organize,
Went on to organize."

"Joe Hill ain't dead," he says to me,
"Joe Hill ain't never died.
Where working men are out on strike
Joe Hill is at their side,
Joe Hill is at their side."

"From San Diego up to Maine,
In every mine and mill,
Where workers strike and organize,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill."

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he

I voted centre. I have voted for all parties at one stage in my life depending on their particular policies at the time. I haven't voted Liberal in a General Election though but I have at local election level.

I haven't ever missed voting because I feel it is a privilege to vote and for evil to triumph all it needs is for good people to do nothing.

I did ruin a paper once at a local election because I knew all 3 candidates and I wouldn't have given any of them house room.

GUY FAWKES' TABLE

I'm sitting at Guy Fawkes' table
The day Parliament voted for war
Though the mass of the people opposed it
And it flouts international law
I'm sitting at Guy Fawkes' table
While American thugs flaunt their power
Egged on by a sad little muppet
And his craven and cowardly shower.

CHORUS

Aneurin Bevan, your party is dead
And the time for a new one is nigh
Will the last person Left please turn out the lights?
New Labour, we're saying goodbye.

They won't be caught up in the carnage
They'll be pontificating right here
Their kids won't be Iraqi conscripts
Moved down while they're shitting with fear
Saddam was the Yanks’ chosen ally
On a whim, they now say he must fall
So they’ll carpet bomb defenceless soldiers -
But that’s not ‘mass destruction’ at all....

CHORUS

I'm sitting at Guy Fawkes' table
As Bush and his muppet connive
And I'm filled with unspeakable anger
And I'm thinking of 1605
One message, Dishonourable Members
Who endorsed an illegal attack -
No, I don't want to bomb you like Guy did
But I'd love to send you to Iraq.

CHORUS

We need a new socialist party -
But not the Judean People's Front
Not another small sect, but a movement
With the power to change and confront
We need an electoral system
Which gives every voter a voice
'Cos we're fed up with voting for traitors
And we have the right to a choice!

CHORUS

Lord Bracknell said:
Avanti, popolo, alla riscossa,
Bandiera rossa, bandiera rossa
Avanti, popolo, alla riscossa,
Bandiera rossa trionferà.

Bandiera rossa debe trionfar
Bandiera rossa debe trionfar
Bandiera rossa debe trionfar
Evviva il comunismo e la libertà.

Avanti, popolo, tuona il cannone
Rivoluzione, rivoluzione !
Avanti, popolo, tuona il cannone
Rivoluzione vogliamo far.

Dai campi al mare, alla miniera,
All'officina, chi soffre e spera,
Sia pronto, è l'ora della riscossa.
Bandiera rossa trionferà.

Non più nemici, non più frontiere :
Sono i confini rosse bandiere.
O comunisti, alla riscossa,
Bandiera rossa trionferà.

Anyone remember seeing Neil Kinnock singing that? Quite impressive I thought. Compare and contrast to Blair trying to mouth the words to the Red Flag at party conferences.

In my computer
I want free education for people honestly intending to work in that profession...

I want a healthcare system that puts private heathcar out of business

I want teachers to be paid more than tuppence...

I want to know that if someone commits a crime that the justive system will actually work...

but I'm a bit of a capitolist as well

AND I WANT SOMEONE FROM THE IND TO RING ME AND LET ME KNOW ABOUT MY APPEAL pretty please *fingerscrossed*

The people's flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyred dead,
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts blood dyed its every fold.

Then raise the scarlet standard high (chorus).
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

Look round, the Frenchman loves its blaze,
The sturdy German chants its praise,
In Moscow's vaults its hymns are sung
Chicago swells the surging throng.

It waved above our infant might,
When all ahead seemed dark as night;
It witnessed many a deed and vow,
We must not change its colour now.

It well recalls the triumphs past,
It gives the hope of peace at last;
The banner bright, the symbol plain,
Of human right and human gain.

It suits today the weak and base,
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place
To cringe before the rich man's frown,
And haul the sacred emblem down.

With heads uncovered swear we all
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
This song shall be our parting hymn.

Old labour through and through. Nice seeing Blair having to let Ken back in cos they knew they were going to get trounced in the London mayor election.
