I think the campaign being mounted is incredible, and have nothing but admiration for those at the forefront of it. Even if this latest push feels a bit 'late in the day', I think there is a real chance of something being said or seen somewhere that can still influence the decsion, and any chance is better than none.

However, I can't help but feeling feel that despite the heroics, the single most influential action would be some calls from senior Labour MPs/councillors to Prescott's department and central office explaining the extent of the anger, disillusionment, and fallout that would stem from such an overwhelming case being rejected. They could probably do more in five minutes than we could achieve in two weeks - though we should obviously carry on doing it anyway.

To think a couple of weeks ago I was moaning that we wouldn't be able to buy tickets at the ground on the day. At this stage I'd take a month in advance.

Well they may be but behind the scenes. They know that to be seen at this stage putting pressure on JP at this time would be wrong. Baker and others would cry foul. In theory JP has to make his decision based on the evidence before him from the planning inquiry. That does not mean he has to accept the Inspectors view for JP can come to a different conclusion. Here's hoping it's the right one

The Tories are currently making quite a bit of noise about local planning, reducing bureacracy, government red tape etc

It would suit them fine if JP rejects Falmer. Its the decision they would possibly make themselves, but they can still attack JP for ignoring local opinion.

Hopefully, JP should be aware of this.

Anyway, I agree that political pressure is vital.

Brighton & Hove are fairly marginal Labour seats, are they not?

And there certainly aren't enough votes to be had in Falmer Village to warrant taking much notice of their whining....

I for one will never vote labour again if the stadium is refused.

There's a poll on here somewhere about it.

Maybe get a print out and send it to JP?
