Policing and the Labour Conference

Just my own silly thought. I belive we need to be the most blamless, polite and upstanding people when we march on the Labour Party Conference.

Having watched the news in the last couple of days I feel the Police will be wound up to absolute boiling point. Everyone who walks nearby will be I feel treated as a potential criminal. I know I may well be over the top here, but we all (and I do feel that I am taking something away from Pasty's thread) know what the Police can be like.

Just watching the national news tonight, one farmer, Peter Robinson, from Brighton, stated that he would create civil disobedience. If I am watching this, my guess is that a few senior coppers are.

Yes I will be marching, but like one famous cop show ued to say. "Let's be careful out there."

Do we know who will be policing the Conference? will it be completely the Sussex force or will others be brought in to supplement them? if the Met is involved then look out for trouble.

Agree completely. We need to give an image of being peaceful and 'quiet'.

But lets face it we ain't going t o march and smash windows anyway so we haven't really got much to worry about

Mrs Inkerman has worked at the Police College in Bramshill (close to Basingstoke) for about 10 years and reports that she has noticed a marked change over that time in the attitude of the trainees. Nowadays they seem far more excited about the prospect of getting out there and busting a few heads when 10 years ago they wanted to keep law and order.
Of course they would blame this on a change in the changing attitude of the general public.

Exactly. The change in the Police is very noticeable by all. i wonder if the direct action the Police provided, is an order that has come from the top?

March will be mostly stewarded. There will be some police there, mostly Sussex, some Met. The Met contingent is being led by Insp (formerly Sgt) Alan Goodall who used to work at all Albion games home and away. We should not have any problems at all.

Guy's come on lets be calm. I am a fan and have been going for nearly 30 years and have been a season ticket holder for many of those, I am also a local Police officer. I have seen a great change and support for the Albion by the local officer on the street, especially since the return. Many of my colleagues follow the glory clubs but they all support the club and the search for a new ground. If we all march peacefully there is no need to worry.
I will be doing my bit for Falmer and we all need to stick together.
There is no place for violence on this march and no reason to believe it will be hijacked by anyone. Lets keep focused and clear minded and get the message across.

My thoughts exactly,We all saw what a bunch of thugs they really are,with a few of their anti Falmer cronies the could try and make us look bad,keep a look out for people with three eyes and six fingers.
