The bottom line for me is that very few people on here have to go to work each day not knowing if they'll be abused, assaulted, accused of some crime against the person or worse as an occupational hazard. When the shit starts to fly the vast majority of people look for the Police to wade in and help them.

thats if you can find one.

Worthing
One would expect the Police to have a higher level of stress as they see and deal with things we can't (or won't) imagine, although one might argue this is their job.

The problem with the Police is that a majority of them are perfectly good at what they do and are bogged down with paperwork, but some can be absolute tossers when the mood take them (which is often).

I suppose it is tradition to hate Police. I'm assuming then that if you were being burgled or your child went missing you wouldn't be calling these overpaid, useless form fillers?

No I did they took over 24 hours to come out and when they did were f*cking incompetant.

I have had several dealings with the police when I have been on the receiving end of crime and to be honest don't feel like one of them gave a toss about what had happened. Of course maybe with an extra bit of cash in their monthly pay packet then maybe this will change!

Hope they do strike then we can all drive 32mph in a 30 zone without fear of persecution!

They put up with violence, abuse, threats, physical assault etc etc and the only reason that they might not be able to get to you on time is because they are understaffed, underbudgeted and under immense pressure.

And underintelligent.

I've learned by experience not to bother, best deal with it yourself.

'I was a prison officer at Chelmsford when they had the riots there police, army, they all refused to come in and it was left to the good old screws to sort it out'

nothing like a prison officer to tell it how it is eh!

word is prison officers are planning a mass strike next May....and the very people who cant strike(the police) are being sent in to bust it

I thought this thread was about the police, but once again the topic turns to Adrie.

How do we know when they are on strike?. We dont see anyone for weeks in uniform then when we do it is usually the pretend police, when they were introduced it was stated they would only accompany a proper PC, but the only sightings over the last six months were pairs of the plastic cut outs,a matron type with a much younger female who looks as if she was still at school last week. It must frighten the life out of the criminal fraternity.

In fairness to the community coppers some of them i've met do actually spend time in amongst local youth trying to prevent them from getting involved in crime, Unlike the regular coppers who are usually about 2 weeks behind a crime being commited.
